The way I see Cloudjumper is that he sometimes acts noble and reserved, but that he is under it all quite a big dork. Cloudjumper is an inquisitive and gentle dragon, and in those moments of curiosity, will let drop his regal airs. With new acquaintances, Cloudjumper is more likely to be stiff, and with those he trusts and respects, more likely to be open, friendly, and goofy. Cloudjumper might be more reserved and less bouncy than Toothless, but he’s still full of amusing personality!
Cloudjumper’s Curiosity
Curiosity is a large, noticeable facet of Cloudjumper’s personality. This is a dragon who is naturally inquisitive. He is curious about many novel instances, and will stare upon it with intrigue. Sometimes, Cloudjumper will step forward with little reservation to check something out.
The fact that Cloudjumper is a curious dragon is the very reason Valka was taken from Berk. Instead of fighting with the other raiding dragons, Cloudjumper sweeps inside a Viking house and curiously approaches a human infant. Gently, the dragon leans forward to learn more about this baby and interact with him.
Cloudjumper’s curiosity shifts from Hiccup to Valka when she steps in to save her son. Not frightened, Cloudjumper gazes at Valka and slowly comes toward her. This is amazing gentleness and amazing inquisitiveness. While many other dragons would have fled or poised themselves for defense, Cloudjumper remains calm and stares, intrigued, at current unfolding events. Cloudjumper is not afraid of Valka. Her sword doesn’t alarm him, even. Cloudjumper just finds her interesting.
So interesting, in fact, that he takes her back to the Bewilderbeast’s sanctuary, where, as Valka recounts it, he thought she “belonged.”
There are many other instances of Cloudjumper’s curiosity. Sometimes you just see it in his big yellow eyes as he stares at the sanctuary’s latest arrivals (Hiccup and Toothless).
Sometimes you see it with the cock of his head.
Sometimes, the curiosity’s even more obvious. Cloudjumper’s head will stay focused on Toothless as the Night Fury draws pictures in the snow. Because Toothless is moving, this means Cloudjumper constantly has to rotate his head to keep Toothless in sight. It comes to the point Cloudjumper’s head will turn almost completely one hundred eighty degrees around. But because Toothless’ actions are that novel and intriguing, Cloudjumper cannot look away.
It almost makes you wonder if Cloudjumper’s and Valka’s curiosities were working together when they snatched Hiccup from the sky back in “Toothless Lost.” Valka is obviously invested in this strange dragon rider. But Cloudjumper, with his obvious character trait in curiosity, could have wanted to investigate just as much as human companion.
Cloudjumper’s Nobility
Cloudjumper is not a rude or cocky dragon, but he does have some “airs” about him. I’m not saying that he’s pompous, but that he will sometimes make himself look regal, mature, or reserved. One gets the impression Cloudjumper is older than Toothless simply by his personality. (It is also canon, as Cloudjumper appears to be full grown when he meets infant Hiccup).
His reserved “airs”, for instance, manifest when he first becomes acquainted with Toothless. Instead of cheerfully greeting the dragon or curiously sniffing the Night Fury (like many dragons do in the sanctuary), Cloudjumper seems willing to stand his distance. He will keep himself erect and proud, looking like something noble. Toothless hopping in dorkily to befriend Cloudjumper, throws the dragon a bit off-guard, causing Cloudjumper at one point to retract his wing away from Toothless.
In some ways, this is because Cloudjumper is a reserved personality. Cloudjumper isn’t going to be a dragon who will be outgoing and silly with the first person he meets. This shows introversion on his part. It takes a little for him to warm up with individuals. Even when Cloudjumper comes to know Toothless, he does demonstrate formality to the new alpha – an action which astonishes even Toothless.
That said, once Cloudjumper warms up with Toothless, he’s also more likely to be relaxed and dorky.
Cloudjumper’s Dorkiness
Though Cloudjumper can be noble, he also can be a ridiculous dork. This is not the image of a sophisticated dragon:
And, as stately as this gesture appears, he is dumping snow on Toothless’ head.
Cloudjumper’s dorkiness isn’t as flamboyant as Toothless’ is. But he’s a dork. He can be regal, straight-backed, impressive looking… and still be a dork dumping snow on a random dragon’s head.
Cloudjumper’s personality is hard to describe. I feel it more than I can put it into words. He is softer than Toothless, more mature, more regal, more reserved, more introverted, slower to bubble up, but also incredibly gentle, friendly, sympathetic, curious, and loyal. I hope we get some good instances and memories with Cloudjumper in HTTYD 3 since he’s such a great personality already!
– Aizawa isn’t the one to talk much, and it’s the same with texts. But he still wants to show you that he thinks about you even when he’s busy, so he’ll send you a cute cat video or photo every day. Without a comment or anything. But you know its his way of saying “Hi. I miss you.”
– It’s not hard for him to take the next step in your relationship. Moving together? His room is almost empty anyway. Marrying? Always thought is an unnecessary concept, but you are the first woman ever making him want a relationship – and he knows you’ll stay the only one. If you really want to, why not bind for life then? He’ll be the one to propose. It will be nothing big, but he’ll try to make a nice atmosphere, then just speaks from the heart.
– The only thing he isn’t sure he could deal with is you being pregnant. He’s afraid that his cold attitude may be bad for your child, or that it could get hurt in this crazy world of quirks. Won’t show you any of his doubts, only his happiness because he wants you to feel as wonderful as possible. When he finally holds your little baby in his arms, he feels a joy he’s never felt before. All the doubts are gone. Probably cries. Will die of happiness when the baby first graps his finger. It’s so beautiful how loving and carefully he treats it. Won’t let anything happen to the both of you.
– You’re the only person in his life that ever saw him cry. It happened quite often, lately. He tends to blame himself for everything bad that happens. If his students or anyone else near him gets hurt he feels responsible for it and feels like a failure. But he’ll only tell you. Standing at your doorstep at the midst of the night, tears filling his eyes as soon as you open the door, pressing you against him and starting to cry. You’ll comfort him, his head laying on your lap and you’ll hold his hands while he talks about what goes on in his head.
– The two of you are the perfect match. You compliment each others character traits while compensating your flaws. His rationality helps you when you’re too naive again, and your caring personality lets him realize when he’s being too scruff.
– Is really jealous and overprotective, yet doesn’t realize it himself. Explains everything with logic, even when his behaviour makes no sense. Acts like a Tsundere sometimes, but is really cute doing so.
– His way of dealing with his students and other people has changed because of you. You made a huge impact on his life, even if it makes the impression that it’s only small. But he accepted his feelings that are disturbing logic, understanding that they could even be helpful sometimes.
– Loves sneaking little gifts for you or picking you up at your workplace. Isn’t the one for big romantic acts, rather showing his love in the little, daily things.
– Can’t cook. Has always been up to instant-noodles and coffee. Tried to cook for you when you came home from work one day, and it didn’t end up well. But it’s the thought that counts.
– Will show you his favourite spot in the city: On the roof of a giant sky-scrapper you can overlook the whole town, the hills behind it, and the giant sky. It’s just too beautiful to watch the sun set there.
– Acts like he’s annoyed when you tell him how cute he is, but lowkey he just loves it. What a softie.
– Will bring every stray cat home he can find. You’re the same. Always telling you’ll try finding a new home for them when they’re healthy again, but it never happens. They are yours now.
– Actually very insecure of if he can give you what you need. He’s still a very gruff person and not good with emotions. Doesn’t like to talk much or show his affection in front of others. When you’re sad or upset, he can logically understand why, but is bad at comforting. Really tries his best, but can’t act against his nature. Doesn’t seem to understand that you don’t care. Seems illogical to him.
– Think he’s not the type for physical contact? Usually, that’s right. But he just feels so comfy cuddling onto you. Your skin feels so good and kissing you makes him feel like home. The usually workaholic will really calm down when you’re there. He doesn’t recognize himself sometimes.
– Sex with him is the best. He knows all your weak spots and can be really intensive. He told you you’re the first one he ever had sex with, but you couldn’t believe it. He’s just too good. Will always put pleasing you in front of feeling good himself, yet is really sensitive for every of your actions.
– Has the absolute worst kind of humor. Loves to tease you or make a “logical ruse” to test your reaction to certain events. If you’re mad at him he won’t apologize, but show you his affection and explains to you why he behaves that way.
– He made a photo of you sleeping. It was just too adorable. Is his lock-screen now. No one will ever know, but he looks at it when he feels down.
– Gets anxious too when you’re feeling uncomfortable.
– Becomes very affectionate (and is already pretty affectionate usually). Doesn’t let go of you. Ever. He’s glued to your body until you’re not afraid anymore. Cuddles the heck outa you, kissing every inch of your face. Holds your small hands into his.
– He knows you too well. Learned you own strategy to overcome the fear by heart.
– You’re the boss. Want to watch a movie to distract yourself? Or just want to talk? Go out? Doesn’t matter, he’s in.
– Gladly his eyes shine brightly even in the dark. Was hella scary at first – waking up and seeing two big, blue irises staring at you. But you got used to it and now it’s actually really calming to you.
– Is so proud of you dealing with your fear and he tells you everytime. Makes really moving speeches about fear and how love can make you become courageous.
– You can call him any time. He’ll come to you to stay the night.
Aizawa:
– To him, such fears are irrational. Yet he doesn’t judge, but he will be tring to understand your fear logically – asking you what exactly you fear or what triggered those fears.
– You are allowed to snuggle up to him as close as you want. And that’s something. You’d even be allowed to sleep inside his sleeping bag.
– Knows how to calm down people, because he was forced to learn during his rescue work. Prefers using some breathing exercises. Will lay his hands on your shoulders and look you right in the eyes, breathing together with you.
– Is really comforting, but rather with deeds than with words: Won’t leave you alone the whole time, making you a hot chocolate and gets comfort food. Snuggles you up in 1000 blankets.
Many kisses because he doesn’t know what to say.
– Tries to help you overcome that fear with late-night walks, holding hands the whole time and watching the most beautiful starry sky there is. Would never force you to do it, but the offer to help you is there.
– He can sleep anywhere, anytime. It’s not bothering him to stay a night awake or sleeping with lights on when your fear is really bad.
– When he’s at night shift and you text him that you’re struggling, he uses every free minute he has to call you or check on you via text. Sends you cute cat videos to distract you. Will try to come home as soon as possible.
Hizashi:
– He’s the king of distraction. You don’t have any time to be afraid, you’ll be too busy laughing your ass off. Is making a total doofus out of himself just to get a smile at your face.
– Wants you to express your feelings. Tell him how you feel at that moment. Scream your anger at your fears right at him. Beat a pillow.
– How many singers that start with R can you name? How many pieces of furniture are in your kitchen? He’ll give you many of these tasks to distract you from what’s happening.
– Gets his board-game collection. It’s his guilty pleasure, but it’s actually pretty fun to play those games with him. His cheerful attitude is the best distraction you can get after all.
– Will make you feel like a goddess, so you have the confidence to stand strong against your fears. Tons of compliments.
– Sings one of your favourite songs for you to fall asleep to. Holds your hand and pats your head the whole time while singing.
– If wanted, he can also distract you from your fear while replacing those emotions with rather…pleasant ones. (¬‿¬)
– When he’s at work in the middle of the night, you can relay on him making hidden messages through his radio channel for you. Turns on calming music at the time you usually go to sleep. You can even call him when things are getting out of hand, it won’t be recorded. He takes a break then, trying to comfort you with his voice.
I know many of you out there are feeling a bit down. Have a crow to Wouldn’t it be Nice by the Beach Boys to lift your mood.
He stops and looks both ways?!?
You wanna know what makes this better?
Crows normally walk. This one seems to have both legs working, so he’s not hopping out of necessity, he’s doing it for fun. Corvids can sometimes be seen doing things like this for no evident reason other than enjoyment.

Oh my goodness…the mental image of these two cuties going on a date is just 💯👌
Probably cliche, but I think these two would love to try out new bars wherever they could: just chat, drink, share a few stories. Them just getting tipsy and flirting shamelessly is an added bonus 💕
Otherwise, I imagine they’re really chill about their dates. Neither of them like being in plain sight, so it’s either crowd blending (aka bar hopping) or them relaxing out in a meadow or field somewhere, perhaps on a picnic, where it’s just the two of them enjoying one another’s presence away from their erratic and dangerous lifestyle. McCree has his head resting in Sombra’s lap while she threads her fingers through his hair. He frequently points to his lips when he wants a smooch and she’ll gladly oblige him. The two talk, quietly, about their worries, about their hopes, anything. But they try not to mention the fact that it might be a long time before they can see one another once again. They treasure these moments of peace, pretending they could have something more domestic 😭
I also headcanon that McCree can play a bit of guitar. He’s not the best but not too shabby either. When they just want to relax, they’ll relax back at her place and he’ll play a few songs for her that he may or may not have written about her. The lyrics don’t always rhyme and they don’t outright name her, but listening to the words, and seeing the way he stares at her between each verse, Sombra can’t help but feel he pours his soul into making these songs for her. 💖
Believe it or not, I tend to just start shipping characters randomly! I don’t even have to see fan art for it. I could just be playing Overwatch, or maybe doing something completely unrelated and I begin to think ‘…I wonder if there’s any art for X’ in this case, being Hanzo and Mei.
Hanzo and Mei was actually the first pairing I started shipping when I was new to Overwatch! How sad I was to find out that they’re a rarepair. 😥 But I did like the art that I saw! I really thought Mei and Hanzo looked cute together from when I played – the cute scientist gal and the stoic archer…dreamy!
I know they’re a pairing based mostly on head canons and personal interpretations but I still love them 😚It’s definitely one of those ‘feel good’ pairings for me – when I feel bad, I just look up the stuff that’s out there for them.
McCree finishes a shot of bourbon when a body slides into the chair next to his. His hat rests on the bar besides the bottle of amber liquid. Checking its placement on the worn wood, he’ll need to grab it quick if whoever this person is turns out to be unsavory.
“Mr. McCree,” a feminine voice raises his gaze to a dark skin, short haired woman beside him. A strange tattoo decorates her right eye, mostly curving outwards underneath her eyelid.
“Sorry, not interested for company tonight,” he rumbles into his glass.
“I’m here because of your kind of business, Mr. McCree.”
Her firm insistence causes him to tuck his elbow upon the bar. Turning to face her, he drinks again. His business is not light or for the faint of heart. Few even know of what he does, much less who he is. In a lowly bar in Georgia, this woman has found him for business.
He goes over her features and body language, looking for any signs of her being directly a part of his business. Not pale nor seemingly hiding pointed teeth. There are plenty of other signs of even deadly things.
“My business, ma’am,” he asks, holding her hard, determined gaze.
“My name is Pharah. There’s a village down in Mexico, a little ways past the big cities and hidden in the jungle. My mother and I live there.”
She jerks her chin upwards, conveying her absolute intensity.
“Mr. McCree, a terrible thing is plaguing the people of our village. I alone can’t kill the monster harming my home, but I know you can.”
Either she’s crazy, or honest, either way, McCree knocks back the rest of the bottle.
I don’t know why people started shipping Hanzo x Mei, but if I would ship them then that would be because of the Chang’e story.
In the lunar new year event, Mei has that Chang’e skin and we all know by now what that Chang’e stands for etc etc.
Now let us not forget that in the original tale, Chang’e has a husband (Houyi) who is an archer, his archery skills often playing an important role in the story.
Idk but I find that to be a cool coincidence, and why not use these tales as fanfiction or fanzine inspiration? It’s a cute ship.
random, but i enjoy how Bakugou chose the most stereotypically romantic, girly, valentines day color scheme for his bouquet LOL
like, the other bouquets look more like the boys put in some effort and intentionally chose colors to match their interests/personality and give them some individuality (i mean, green roses for valentines day? blue roses (b/c Todoroki avoids red like the plague)? orange wrapping paper?)
meanwhile, Bakugou’s looks like he just asked the florist to make one for him b/c he has absolutely no idea how the fuck valentines works, or romance, or what girls like on valentines day, but he at least wants to try b/c fuck, he refuses to be upstaged by the other boys b/c HE’S GONNA BE THE BEST AT EVERYTHING, INCLUDING GIVING A GIRL A VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT
either that, or he chose pink b/c if he’s gonna do this, he’s gonna do it RIGHT and go the traditional route b/c fuck that green and blue shit, WERE YOU MORONS RAISED IN A BARN, VALENTINES DAY IS ALL ABOUT PINK, I FUCKING RESEARCHED THIS YOU IDIOTS, TRY AND KEEP UP
either scenario is fucking hilarious to me and i love it
(i hope we get a cute White Day pic next month too, with the girls, b/c this is just so cute ahhh)
also, i like to imagine that in this scenario, the boys of the class all have to make a bouquet for one of the girls in the class just as a cute little Valentine’s Day assignment (which is kinda neat b/c Valentines Day is usually about girls giving boys stuff in Japan…. maybe All Might assigned it b/c he’s much more American influenced lol)
so all six of the girls in the class end up with like…. 2-3 bouquets each, and on White Day, the girls get the boys who gave them flowers some homemade candy/cookies/etc
and all in all it’s just a really cute class-bonding thing with no real romantic implications attached, just a little thing to bring the class together and get everyone to know each other better (like giving out Valentine’s cards to your classmates in elementary school lmao)
basically just. cute friendship stuff lol
hc that Kiri gave his flowers to Mina b/c he’s the girl in class he knows best (and he wants to repay her kindness in supporting him back in middleschool, when he was doubting himself), Bakugou gave flowers to Uraraka b/c she’s the one he can stand the most (and he actually calls her by name LOL), Izuku also gave some to Uraraka b/c she’s his best friend (Iida also gave some to Uraraka for the same reason), and Todoroki gave some to Momo because he remembered how down she seemed during their teamup exam and wanted to make sure he showed some appreciation this time, b/c he’s just a sweet considerate guy like that, even if he’s not very good with connecting with others or using words
(Aizawa finds this assignment very mind-numbing, but does agree with All Might that it’s a good way to bring the class together)
I ACTUALLY HAVE NOT ANSWERED AN ASK LIKE THIS BEFORE SO NO WORRIES
i actually haven’t posted why i enjoy Kacchako so much, tho i have spoken with a few friends about it. but OH MAN…. oh gosh where do i even start jkslg;ha;lghkal;ghskal
ok so. a big part of it comes from their relationship in canon. both characters have a large amount of respect for each other. they’ve only interacted a few times (including in the omake), but each time is fairly insightful to the characters, and particularly when said characters comment about each other to other characters.
but it’s also how their relationship has a lot of potential in the narrative to drive both character’s development further really interesting directions.
to start, their fight. their fight at the Sports Festival was the first time Bakugou ever actually noticed Uraraka. before she was just sorta that unnamed girl who hung around Izuku.
Uraraka had noticed Bakugou before, but mostly she just wanted to stay out of his way (like with her line after the class president vote when Bakugou asks who voted for Deku, “I hope he doesn’t find out it was me…”)
but oh man. their fight. their fight is AMAZING on so many levels. it’s not just about Uraraka and Bakugou battling each other, there are many, many layers to it.
for example, the reason why Uraraka is fighting so hard in the first place. she wants to support her parents. her family grew up poor, and the whole reason she’s at UA, trying to become a hero, is because she wants to help support her parents financially. this fight is her proving just how far she’s willing to go in order to fulfill that goal.
she’s willing to go toe-to-toe against Bakugou, who never goes easy on anyone, in order to prove what she’s made of. hell, she even thanks Bakugou for not going easy on her.
and it’s not just that. right before this fight, she realized that she was riding on Izuku’s success without improving herself all that much. she thought she was being friendly, but she realized that she really was just hoping that Izuku would get her through the day again.
she feels shame for it. when Iida said that he wants to prove himself against Izuku, she feels shameful of her own actions.
so she decided to change. she decided to put her all into fighting Bakugou, proving that she can make it to the finals just like Deku. that she can do it by herself. she wanted to prove it to everyone. she wanted to prove it to herself that she could do it.
this fight gave Uraraka so much character development. before this fight, she was still sorta… there. we didn’t have much character motivation, and she was mostly just the happy, bubbly Love Interest/main female character. we heard that she was poor, but this fight put that motivation to the forefront of her character and proved just how much potential she has to grow and develop.
and on Bakugou’s end, it’s really interesting. right from the get-go he warns her that if she’s gonna forfeit she needs to do it now, because he won’t go easy on her. and through out the fight he proves just that–however, despite the pummeling Bakugou gave her over and over again, she continued to come back for more.
she refused to give up. nothing he did could put her down for long. she always got back up on her feet and kept running in for an attack.
Aizawa says it here clearly: by refusing to go easy on her, he’s acknowledging her strength. he’s showing her respect as an opponent. she’s not just a fragile little girl being beaten up by the Big Bad Blasty-guy, they’re equals on the battleground, and Bakugou refuses to let his guard down around her because they’ve both made it this far.
Bakugou lost against Izuku in the first Heroes vs. Villains training arc, and it was largely because he underestimated Izuku, and overestimated himself. Bakugou learned his lesson, and is refusing to do the same thing here.
Uraraka went through the same things he did at UA. she was there during his fight it Izuku, she was there when the villains invaded, she made it through the Sports Festival and met him as an opponent. clearly, she’s not someone to treat lightly.
what’s particularly interesting tho, is that at the end of the fight, Bakugou looks EXTREMELY EXCITED to keep fighting her.
Uraraka landed her final attack, which failed (because Bakugou used his largest blast to blow it away–you can see his hands shaking afterwards). Bakugou is ready to keep going, and rushes at her, with this huge, excited grin on his face, and says her name for the first time.
she surprised him. she impressed him. she shocked him.
Bakugou doesn’t remember people’s names. he can’t be bothered. he calls everyone by degrading nicknames, like Drooly, or Soy-Sauce Face, Raccoon Eyes, Deku, etc. The only characters he calls by name are All Might, Kirishima, and Uraraka.
All Might, because he’s the person Bakugou looks up to the most.
Kirishima is interesting. Bakugou has known Kirishima fairly well since at least the USJ incident. he kept calling him Hair-for-Brains until the cavalry battle at the Sports Festival, which is the first time he calls Kirishima by his name.
Bakugou first met Uraraka at the Sports Festival, and fought her for half an hour, at best. at the beginning, he calls her Round-Face. however, in that time, she impressed him so much that he started calling her by her name mid-fight.
when Bakugou starts calling people by their names, he doesn’t go back from that. he keeps calling them by their names. it’s his personal form of respect, that’s very subtle and understated.
what’s also really interesting about their fight is Bakugou’s reaction after Uraraka falls.
he looks shocked, in a way that we haven’t ever seen before. she impressed him so much, but then she falls and he realizes that she has a limit. someone he admires and wants to fight, actually has a limit.
it’s similar to his shock when All Might’s true form is revealed for the first time.
and after it’s over, Bakugou actually confronts Izuku about Uraraka. he berates Izuku for giving Uraraka that dangerous, self-destructive plan. in other words: in a very backhanded way, he’s saying he cares for Uraraka’s safety and well being.
he’s reprimanding Izuku for giving her a dangerous plan. Bakugou knows Izuku has a notebook full of notes on heroes and the other kids. Izuku mentioned it to Bakugou in their first fight. it would be a no-brainer to figure out that Izuku must’ve come up with a plan for Uraraka. and Bakugou is right, Izuku was willing to let Uraraka use his notes.
except that Uraraka refused to use them.
Izuku tells Bakugou point-blank that all that Uraraka did on the battlefield was her own plan. he had nothing to do with it. It was all Uraraka.
when Kaminari starts nagging on Bakugou for hurting a “harmless little girl” like Uraraka, Bakugou mutters to himself that there isn’t anything fragile about her.
this is the first time Bakugou has ever actually praised or defended anyone. he’s always been very much about himself. in the beginning of the manga, he would go on and on and on about how great he was, and how everyone else (in his own class) were all losers, and this attitude is still fairly prevalent.
he couldn’t even be bothered to remember his own classmate’s quirks. he’s gotten better about being egotistic since his fight with Izuku (and from watching everyone else in the class–he even admits that he didn’t think he could beat Todoroki at one point), but only just.
but he remembered her name. he defended her against Kaminari’s words. he respected her as an equal and as an opponent. later on, during his fight with Todoroki, he even berates Todoroki for holding back against him, and the manga hovers over Uraraka for a second.
Bakugou says only those who try their damnedest to win are allowed to stand before him. he’s referring back to Uraraka. again, in a roundabout sort of way, he’s showing her a lot of respect and praise.
coming from someone like Bakugou, who’s had so many issues with self confidence, ego, and refusing to even acknowledge those around him, that is a lot.
this fight was amazing for both characters, because it gave them BOTH amazing character development. this fight showed just how far Uraraka was willing to go, just how strong her determination is, in fulfilling her goal. this fight was also the first time we’ve see Bakugou develop away from the ‘angry-rival.’ this is the first time we saw him compliment and respect someone else.
this fight is the catalyst for so many amazing things, and the development doesn’t stop there.
after the Sports Festival, when the kids are trying to figure out where they want to intern, Uraraka decides to go with Gunhead. largely because of her fight with Bakugou.
she realized that, while she wants to be a disaster relief hero, knowing how to fight in close combat is an invaluable skill that she should learn, and it’ll be a huge advantage to her. it was thanks to her fight with Bakugou that helped her come to this conclusion, and allowed her to improve herself more.
Uraraka isn’t afraid of Bakugou anymore. not since their fight, in fact. she’s confident enough around him to willing to confront him face-to-face, about his issues with Izuku.
she sees through his act. she says that Bakugou was so cool during their fight, but when it comes to Izuku, Bakugou tries to push him away, as if he’s scared. and he is. he’s scared of Izuku’s progress. it terrifies him. but he’s in denial about it.
Uraraka confronts him about this, sees right fucking through Bakugou’s denial, fear, and pride, and tells him straight up that she thinks he should try to be friends with Izuku again. no other character has done this before. only Uraraka has been able to see through Bakugou so clearly.
Bakugou, presented with this tho, of course yells, goes into fighting stance, and challenges her to a fight (which she responds to immediately with her own battle cry and fighting stance, lmao). and then after Midnight makes them sit down again, Bakugou is back in denial.
however, he keeps calling her by her name. he’s calling her ‘Useless Uraraka’ in his head, but he’s still calling her by her name, which just continues to show his own respect for her, even as he’s pissed and angry.
this omake is fantastic because it gives us a hint into the characters and their relationships. Uraraka has clearly notices the issues between Izuku and Bakugou, and tried to mend them in her own way. Izuku is her friend, and Bakugou respected her as an equal in their fight, and she wants them to be friends again. and she even notices that Bakugou fears Izuku on some level, which is a fantastic bit of introspection from her end.
and later on, she continues to show that she understands Bakugou well. in fact, she’s one of the few people who understands him the best.
she says right here that Bakugou would probably view being rescued as a disgrace. and considering the last time he got rescued, she’s right. the only reason the rescue mission worked out in the end is because Kirishima was there.
with Kacchako, there’s just so much room for development. even now, each characters have been pushed further into growing thanks to each other’s actions, and they’ve both shown a remarkable amount of respect and understanding towards each other.
there’s just so much self growth and positivity that could be had with this ship, and i would love to see more of these two interact in canon. if i had to choose a ship that i’d love to see in canon, it would definitely be this, because i think there’s a lot of opportunities for development and growth and for new and interesting places for the narrative to go.
particularly concerning Izuku. Uraraka saw through Bakugou and realized that he fears Izuku. i would love to see her try to become the common ground between them. she, along with Kirishima, could be the bridges that allow those two to mend their relationship in the long run.
again, there’s just so much potential for this ship, both for the characters, their growth, and the narrative.
AHH ANYWAY THIS GOT REALLY LONG BUT i hope that all makes sense!!!
I don’t think so, no but, allow me to explain why!
Firstly, I’m going to use this art drawn by Horikoshi here:
I want to thank @ukitakejuushirofor this post because they made a very good point here. Aizawa, is holding Bakugou down with literally one arm and absolutely no strain, while Bakugou himself is struggling to get Aizawa’s grip off of him. That’s not the only thing I want to point out here though.
Notice where Bakugou’s left hand stops against Aizawa’s forearm.
That’s a thick ass arm, my dude. Bakugou can’t even wrap his hand around Aizawa’s wrist fully. I know Aizawa looks skinny because he wears a baggy ass black suit as his hero attire and they made him appear like a twig in the anime, but legit this man is beefy. Horikoshi basically confirmed this for us every single time he’s ever drawn Aizawa in fitted clothing.
Aizawa is a broad guy. He is thick. He isn’t a a twig like his loose-fitted black suit would have you believe.
Look at that fucking neck and those shoulders! Also note how wide his waist is and how thick his wrists are.
This is a reasonably buff dude. Which shouldn’t be all that shocking considering he can run across power-lines like it’s the easiest thing in the world to do and also dead lift a soaking wet Deku with one hand like it’s nothing. He has the physical prowess of a gymnast combined with a mixed martial arts fighter.
This isn’t my only point though. Look at All Might:
All Might is a god damn mountain. He’s ENORMOUS. But Aizawa in the hero swap:
He is nowhere near as huge. He’s not even close to All Might’s size here. He’s the exact body type you’d expect from someone who is as physically inclined as he actually happens to be. Also notice that his neck and shoulders aren’t any wider than they’re normally drawn WITHOUT HIS CAPTURE WEAPON ON. That’s another thing you have to take into consideration here. His hero outfit does literally nothing in terms of granting people a nice view, ya feel me? It’s baggy af and his bondage scarf usually covers his shoulders and entire neck. So what we see here is all just for more defined because he’s in a skintight body suit instead of a loose tracksuit with miles of metal woven cloth wrapped around his neck and shoulders.
The last thing I want to add is this:
For every other character Horikoshi has done a costume/quirk swap for, no one’s body type changed. Not one. I get All Might can go back and forth between buff and slim, but I feel like if Horikoshi drew Aizawa to be buff for the sake of portraying All Might, he would have given Aizawa the full All Might, mountain sized body. Not just a beefed up version of himself. Especially since he hasn’t done that for any other character. I mean, Bakugou is Nomu in the very same art but he is no taller, and no buffer than his usual body type. He’s just shirtless.
So I believe that is actually Aizawa’s true, canon body. You just get a much better view of it because the All Might suit is like a second skin 😀
so i just wanted to make a post with all of my favorite Bakugou moments
(this was gonna be a post about bakugou-isms. like. moments where bakugou has said/done something inspiring or wise. but. ended up getting carried away jkl;agha)
anyway i apologize because. this is gonna be long
1. Bakugou declaring that he refuses to lose to anyone again, recognizing that there are other people who are stronger than him that he needs to surpass.
i just really enjoy this moment, because it was a big wake-up call for his character to realize that he isn’t the best, there are people in the world who can surpass him, and that he needs to work harder to reach his goals. the world isn’t as black and white as he thought, and it’s his first step to his major development later on.
2. Bakugou calmly analyzing the situation at USJ
i really like this moment b/c it’s s fascinating to watch Bakugou explain that none of their classmates are in danger, and that they should instead go and capture Black Mist, because he’s how the Villains got in in the first place.
it shows that he’s far more than just a violent, angry, rage machine. underneath it all, he’s actually far more intelligent than he seems, and this scene is one of the first that really showcases that
(this is also the moment where Kirishima finally begins to trust him; before this, he was really wary of Bakugou because of how violently he went after Izuku during the Heroes vs. Villains exams (he was seriously worried that Bakugou would kill Izuku). it’s only after this moment where Kirishima changes his initial opinion of Bakugou and begins to trust him)
3. Bakugou explaining that a quirk is nothing more than an extension of a person’s body
i just really love that, of all the characters to do this, it’s Bakugou that explains that even quirks have their limits. it’s a very introspective moment that reminds the audience that these amazing powers aren’t limitless, and that even Bakugou, despite his pride and stubbornness, knows he has limits to what he can do
4. Bakugou’s SHEER GODDAMN TENACITY DURING THE CAVALRY BATTLE
KID JUST REFUSES TO GO DOWN AND BY DOING SO, HE INSPIRES HIS TEAMMATES WITH HIS DETERMINATION AND DESIRE TO WIN AND THEY IN TERN BECOME DETERMINED TO WIN AND NOTHING IS GONNA STOP HIM FROM BECOMING NUMBER ONE AND IT’S JUST SO AWESOME AND ENERGETIC AND I LOVE IT
5. Bakugou acknowledging Uraraka’s strength
PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY, TBH. i love how he refuses to cal her weak in any capacity, defending her against Kaminari’s words. he fought her. he knows better than anyone here that she is anything but weak. and this is the first moment where he’s vocally defending another person, which i love b/c it’s another step in his character development
6. Bakugou telling off Todoroki for standing before him without the intent to win
this scene really shows a lot of what motivates Bakugou’s character. He wants to win against Todoroki–who’s one of the strongest in the class–and prove himself as the best. But Todoroki isn’t really fighting back, because he’s going through personal issues, which is understandable and under no fault of his own.
tbh, i think it’s an interesting point to think about, because everyone at the Sports Festival is here to win. they’re all trying their best–Bakugou, Izuku, Uraraka (who Bakugou even alludes to in his rant above), Momo, etc. and it is kind of insulting to fight someone who isn’t even really trying to fight back against you in a tournament where that’s the entire purpose of it all.
that’s why Bakugou fought so hard against all of his opponents, because they all got to this level. he’s showing them respect by not going easy on them. and Bakugou finds it extremely insulting that Todoroki isn’t. i just find it a fascinating aspect to his character. it’s kind of an off-shoot of a ‘warrior’s code’ sort of thing
7. Bakugou refusing to accept his win at the Sports Festival
again, i think it shows an interesting aspect of his character, because he feels like this win wasn’t deserved, because Todoroki didn’t give it his all. it’s a hollow win, and Bakugou knows it, and he refuses to accept it.
8. the strength of Bakugou’s ideal of what a hero should be and his SHEER GODDAMN TENACITY DURING THE END OF TERM EXAM
I just love that his ideal of what a hero should be is based on All Might, the ultimate hero, who NEVER loses. this his why he became a hero in the first place, this is what motivates him in everything he does. to Bakugou, real heroes never lose, so he absolutely has to win. always.
and i love how he just refuses to give up–maybe it’s not always the greatest thing (pushing himself too far and all) but i find that really admirable too. no matter what, he just refuses to give up, and i love that (even if it isn’t exactly the best thing sometimes). he’s gonna do everything in his power to win, because that’s what heroes do, and nothing short of being knocked unconscious is gonna stop him.
9. Bakugou absolutely fucking REFUSING to join the Villain Alliance, practically BLOWING SHIGARAKI’S FACE UP WHILE DOING SO, because no matter what they say, he’s going to be a HERO, and goddammit.
he was inspired by All Might, that’s the person who motivated him to become a hero in the first place, that’s the person who he’s admired since he was a child, and the person he wants to become like. and nothing in this world is going to change that.
10. Bakugou refusing to lie, even when he’s been kidnapped and surrounded by villains.
i just find it fascinating that this is one of his personal morals, and that he (like All Might) doesn’t lie. he may be in denial more often than not, but he never lies.
11. Aizawa defending Bakugou against the reporters
i just love how Aizawa understands Bakugou, how he realizes that Bakugou is no way in danger of becoming a villain. how Bakugou’s motivations come from an different place entirely. how it all comes from his ideal of strength, and of what a hero should be. i just really love that.
12. Bakugou thanking All Might for saving him.
this is the third time All Might saved Bakugou. the first time, in chapter one, Bakugou was in complete denial. he didn’t need saving. he didn’t need anyone. how dare anyone think he needed rescuing?
the second time, at the Villain’s Alliance base, he was, again, in denial. he didn’t need All Might to come save him; even if he was happy and relieved that All Might was there, he wasn’t gonna admit to it. no way. absolutely not.
the third time… All Might saved him (and everyone at Kamino) by fighting against AFO. by refusing to go down. by using the last of his strength to defeat AFO, revealing his secret to the world, giving up OFA, and retiring for good.
Bakugou feels guilty for this. he feels like the cause of All Might’s retirement. for getting kidnapped in the first place. for not being strong enough to save himself. so this time, he’s without denial or bluster. instead, he quietly thanks All Might for saving him, because he knows what All Might gave up to do it.
it’s a big moment of character growth for him. prior to all of that, Bakugou never would’ve done that. but the weight of All Might’s sacrifice was just too much, it humbled him. he couldn’t deny it anymore. so he sincerely thanked All Might for saving him, for the first time, quietly admitting to his weakness.
13. Bakugou giving Kirishima back the money he used to buy the night vision goggles for the rescue mission (learning about it from Kaminari), while also cheering the class up after Aizawa scolded them, by making Kaminari fry his brain and making them all laugh.
just… what a fantastic moment of character growth from Bakugou. he felt guilty for Kirishima using his money to buy those goggles (which ended up getting destroyed during the mission), and he feels bad for being the reason why class getting reprimanded in the first place. so he fixes both situations as best he can, while still being his gruff, grumpy self.
he gives back the money, and cheers the class up at the same time. and Aizawa totally catches onto it, too. “A farce like this has it’s place once in a while, I suppose.” it just shows that Bakguou actually does care about his class, Kirishima in particular.
it shows that he cares his friends and his class, and i love that
14. Kaminari talking about Bakugou during the Provisional License Exam
Kaminari mentions how the insulting words Seiji is throwing at them stings, and Sejii assumes Kaminari is talking about himself. he isn’t. Kaminari corrects him while throwing one of Bakugou’s grenades, which gives a visual cue of who he’s talking about. Bakugou.
Bakugou got angry at Seiji’s words. he charged in recklessly because he couldn’t stand the insults to UA anymore. he got upset at hearing the people he cares about be insulted. and then Kaminari goes on to say/think about how Bakugou wasn’t using the full force of his attacks.
he was purposefully using lower-powered blasts in order to keep Kirishima and Kaminari safe. he purposefully put himself at a disadvantage just so he wouldn’t accidentally hurt them with the force of his attacks.
Kaminari realizes this and praises Bakugou, defends him against Seiji’s words. he may not have the kindest or sweetest personality, but he’s serious about being a hero. he’s serious about keeping them safe. he’s serious about everything, and he can’t stand hearing Seiji insult him, the people he cares about, or UA.
15. Bakugou’s guilt at causing All Might’s retirement.
oh my god, save this child. save him. he completely, totally blames himself for causing the person he admires the most, the person who inspired him to become a hero, the man who’s motivated him since he was a child, to fall.
he’s just 15. he’s just a child. and he feels guilty for this, he’s feeling the full weight of it on his shoulders, breaking down from it all, and he doesn’t know how to handle it. he’s scared. he’s terrified. he feels horrible. the number 1 hero in the world was forced to retire and it’s all his fault.
he’s been blaming himself for this for weeks. he’s just a child. he isn’t responsible for any of it, but he feels like he is. if only he were stronger, if only he got away on his own power, if only he did this or that, maybe All Might would still be a hero. if only he wasn’t so weak.
i love this moment, as painful as it is, because it shows just how human Bakugou is. it shows that he really is just a child dealing with horrible guilt, among other emotional issues (feeling like Izuku was looking down at him for all these years, being terrified that Izuku could one day surpass him, realizing that All Might acknowledged Izuku over him, having a superiority and inferiority complex that just exploded, feeling desperate for an answer over what he should do, and who was right in how they admired All Might (Bakugou for how he always wins, Izuku for how he always saves people with a smile, etc)).
in the end, he’s still just a child. a child dealing with so much more than he ever let on until this fight, where it all exploded out of him, because he just didn’t know how to handle them. he couldn’t bottle it up anymore.
(i will never, ever excuse or justify any of the horrible things Bakugou did in the past. what he did was inexcusable. but god.. he’s still just a child.)
i love this moment because he’s so scared, terrified, upset, confused, desperate and just so damn human in this moment, and i love it. he’s not just an angry kid. he’s not just a violent, rage machine. there are so many emotions that drive him and i love it so much.
16. Bakugou supporting Izuku after their fight
i just…. really love this. Bakugou has had so many issues with Izuku in the past, many of them stemming from misunderstandings. as mentioned above, he thought Izuku was looking down on him. he was terrified of Izuku’s growth, feared that one day he could actually surpass him one day. but now they’ve talked. now they understand each other better. now Izuku has the support of All Might… and he can’t be losing.
(and again, none of those reasons justify what Bakugou did to Izuku for those ten years. but they explain why he did it in the first place. i just want to emphasize that)
to Bakugou, real heroes never lose. Bakugou is applying that to Izuku, now. he’s got the greatest hero in the world helping him, and he can’t be losing. Bakugou, in his own way, is supporting Izuku. it’s one of the biggest moments of character growth for him. for the longest time, he was terrified of Izuku. scared he’d be left behind while Izuku grew stronger. but now he’s putting that aside.
Izuku has All Might’s power. he has All Might’s support. they both admired him… and now Izuku is being supported by him. so now Bakugou will, too.
Izuku has the greatest hero in the world looking after him. he can’t be losing now. not anymore.
17. Bakugou encouraging Kirishima
i just…. look at how far Bakugou has come. he went from being terrified of others being better than him–of not being as great as he grew up believing–and now he’s supporting Izuku (the person who scared and frustrated him the most), and now he’s actively giving encouragement and helping his friend.
hell. Bakugou has friends now. he didn’t have any at the beginning of the series; he was to full of pride to see anything but himself. but now he does, and he’s giving them encouragement. giving Kirishima encouragement. and he’s doing so by drawing from the Kamino incident, the very incident that gave him so much guilt and confusion and pain. the incident that probably gave him nightmares for who knows how long.
he’s bringing up that incident to comfort and support and encourage his friend. he’s talking about how there are different kinds of strength out there–that just refusing to go down is it’s own strength. this from the kid who’s entire philosophy on heroism is to never lose.
he’s not scared of being surpassed. he’s got friends now. he’s helping and supporting them in his own way. he’s not afraid to think of the very incident that caused him so much pain; he’s healing from it, slowly. he’s learned from it. he’s slowly accepting that it wasn’t his fault. he’s admitting that there are other kinds of strength out there, besides just winning. it’s about refusing to go down (like All Might did at Kamino).
this is one of my favorite moments, even tho it’s so short, because it’s a culmination of Bakugou’s character development so far in the story. it’s a small moment, but it wouldn’t mean anything without the hundred or so chapters proceeding it, showing all of Bakugou’s complexities, and all of his personal issues, motivations, emotional struggles, etc.
this moment is great because it shows just how far Bakugou has come since chapter one. he’s almost a completely different character than who he was, where he began. and that’s why i love it so much
long story short Bakugou is an incredibly complex kid and i love him a lot
I’m going so insaaaaane for this serieeeeee ¸.•*¨) ♫ ♪
[I know that a lot of ppl is drawing Toshinori with the U.A. uniform, at the same age of Yamada e Aizawa, but it’s really.. not? He should be more close to Endevour’s age and he’s around 45, so… I hope it won’t offend anybody, I just imagine him like this!]
And in my mind they were friends even when Aizawa and Yamada were students, so BFF!
