Noctis doesn’t understand how they can be homophobic? He’s never actually met a homophobic person before, so he spends a really long time trying to argue with them. He only stops when he sees you sitting there looking a little nervous. When you guys leave their house, he spends the rest of the night making sure you’re okay.
Gladio doesn’t say anything. He’s mad, and you can see that it’s almost physically painful for him to keep quiet, but he doesn’t want to make things worse. When you guys leave, he asks you if you’re alright. He also asks if you think it’s healthy being around your parents if they seem to hate you so much.
Ignis is confused. How could they talk to their gay son like that, in front of his very gay boyfriend? He wants to appeal to their humanity. Why have a child if they can’t love them no matter what? But Ignis also grew up in an abusive household, so his instinct is to make himself as small as possible. He’s quick to suggest you stop talking to your parents, once you both leave, and he apologizes for not being very helpful.
Prompto gets stiff and nervous. He regrets asking to meet your parents, because you deserve better than to be talked to like this. All he can think about is getting you out of there as gracefully as possible, but he’s also very ungraceful when he’s upset. He ends up faking sick so that you guys can leave, and you might catch him googling “how to deal with homophobic parents” later.
Cor also keeps quiet, but that glare is deadly. He asks you if it’s okay to cut the visit short. When you guys are going back to his house, he tells you that you aren’t obligated to keep people around just because you’re related. If you rely on them in any way, he offers to step in and help you out so you don’t have to anymore. He’s focused on making sure you don’t have to deal with your parents unless it’s because you want to.
Ravus absolutely loses it. How dare they suggest that something’s wrong with him? How dare they suggest something’s wrong with you? In any other situation, your parents probably wouldn’t care about him. But he’s the prince, and he’s frothing at the mouth, and they’re a little scared. The energy he exudes normally can be intimidating, but when he’s mad it’s horrifying… And a little satisfying.
Ardyn is the least affected. He’s old as life, homophobia’s nothing new to him. Hell, it feels like just yesterday that people stopped classifying it as a mental illness. In his mind, you two being together isn’t illegal anymore, so whatever your parents say is rude but whatever. It’s not until he sees that you’re upset that he snaps at them.
