This way girls and boys can see they’re not alone. I have them and this would help me see that.

I’m 29 yrs old and I have lots of BIG stretchmarks! They started when I was around 13 and by the time I was 16, I was covered in massive purple gashlike stretchmarks all over my hips and boobs and even a little on my arms. Against my super pale skin, I thought I looked like a monster. I remember crying alone sometimes just because my skin didn’t look like anyone else’s skin, and everything the internet told me was that I’d have to wait for years for them to even look a little better.

And here I am today. They’re not purple any more, but they’re puffy and shiny, and definitely not ‘sexy’. But I don’t cry any more because not only have I learned that lots of people have skin like mine, but I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter. My husband and friends like my skin because it’s part of me.

A person’s skin is just a big organ that keeps us safe from burns and pokes and infections while letting us touch the people we love. Nothing more.
