Gladiolus Amicita was many things: The loyal shield of the prince of Eos, a practical model as he always has his muscles on show, and one of the most confident men in all of Eos.

But skittish and shy? That’s not like him at all.

You have never seen Gladio like this at all. You’ve never seen Gladiolus blush, you’ve never heard him stutter and stammer over his own words, you’ve never seen him fumble on the battlefield because you simply walked by to get a better shot at the damned daemon.

Something was up, and you knew it had to be with you.

You snuck around the camp on the haven, slowly inching towards the tent that housed the five of you every night if there was no caravan or hotel nearby.

Ignis, Noctis, and Prompto had left for the nearest outpost for extra spices, water, and Ebony so Ignis wouldn’t lose his mind over the four of you draining his sanity away slowly. They left only yourself and Gladio at the camp, but Gladio was still under the impression that you had decided to take a small hike on the nearby trail.

You physically flinched every time your footsteps made too much noise while nudging broken twigs and small rocks out of the way.

You heard the audible and automatic dial softly announce that he was on his phone while the rings were simply loud enough to hear from outside of the thick fabric. He must’ve had it on speaker phone.

“Hello, Gladio,” Ignis stated as the roar of life and community came from his end.

“Hey Iggy,” Gladio sighed.

“Have you done it yet?”

It was silent for at least a solid ten seconds.

“No, I haven’t.”

“And why not, if I may ask.”

“She went on a walk when I was going to tell her.”

Your eyes widened a bit as you simply just stood there baffled.

What does he mean by that? ‘I was going to tell her?’

You leaned in a bit more, being careful as to watch your shadow and keeping it away from the tent so you wouldn’t alert him. You did your best to keep your breathing to a minimum.

“I suggest you do it now before we get back. You wouldn’t want us ruining the mood, now would you?”

The phone suddenly cut away with sound until someone else started talking.

“Gladio, just go for it! She won’t hate you!” Noctis called over the people in the marketplace.

“Do it, dude! (Y/n)’s a cool girl!” Prompto exclaimed into the receiver.

“I’ll take that back, thank you very much,” Ignis stated. “You can continue to vent if you that would help your confession come to light.”

“I’m so in love with her, I don’t know what to do,” he murmured into the phone.
