listen. l i s t e n. listen. kudos does not equal quality. popularity does not equal quality. i have read some “fandom classics” that i could barely fathom how boring or terrible i – personally – found them, and i have stumbled across some absolute gems that didn’t even break 100 kudos.
what is good doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. it’s sad, but true. just because you haven’t – or possibly never take – off in fandom doesn’t mean your work isn’t astounding and beautiful, it doesn’t mean you should stop writing; it just means that a very select corner of the internet missed the diamond in the rough.
fanfiction is flooded with content, there are so many of us out there producing it these days, and having a fic that takes off is almost as much about luck as it is about talent. never let a few artificial numbers on the internet dictate to you what is and isn’t worthy writing.
additionally, you don’t have to read or enjoy fics just bcs they’re big. i cannot count the amount of times i’ve read the first paragraph of something fandom adores and immediatly exited out of it.
just… do what makes you happy. write what you wanna write, read what you wanna read. understand that while we all want recognition – and some deserve it more than others – we did not get into fanfiction for that recognition.
recognition is good, but sometimes we get all tangled up chasing it and stop enjoying writing and reading and fandom as a whole along the way. be careful of that, please, or you’ll burn yourself out.

Hey you. Yes, you. D’you read smut? You know, smut – lemon, porn, PWP, E-rated, whatever it’s called these days. Smut. D’you read it? D’you enjoy it? D’you get hot and blushy and happy over the porny goodness? Does it keep your brain well-fed with wonderful dirty thougts?
Then comment.
Porn is as hard to write as other fic, equally demanding and frustrating as other fic. Maybe even more so, because it’s your kinks and sexual fantasies, something very private, you open up to others. And the authors want to hear your thoughts on it so, so bad. But still there’s a trend that smut, even very popular one, gets less reviews than other fics.
Dear reader, I get that it can be a bit embarassing to say “this made me horny” or “the scene where X did the butt stuff was hot”. I get it. But the author will REJOICE in that and won’t ever, ever judge you for it (they wrote that shit in the first place!). So get past that embarassment, and let them know you loved it. If you don’t want to have the porn you read connected to your account (which is completely understandable) – log off, comment on anon. Or add a pseud to your account that can’t be traced back to your and comment with that. In any case, comment.
Gentle but firm reminder that expecting selfshippers in their 20s and beyond to ‘move on/let go/unlearn/grow up’ as time goes on because it’s little girl’s stuff doesn’t work like that.
There are many older selfshippers I know that have very, very close bonds with who they love that have been there for years and years. Expecting them to ‘move on’ and get real partners isn’t good.
What they do with their lives is nobody’s business but their own.

My Mother used to eye roll at me so hard when I was in my 20′s and watched anime. “Aren’t you too old for cartoons?” “That’s for kids.” “Are you ever going to grow up?” To which my answers were. “Nope” “No it’s not, cause if it was you’d say the same thing about Disney movies which you like.” and “Never.”
But time and time again I would prove to her that despite me watching ‘cartoons’ and playing video games, that I was a responsible adult. That I knew when play time would end and that these were the things I used to relax. The things I was interested in that brought me some amazing friends. And eventually she no longer asked if I was going to “Give up/Grow up/Move on” from my interests. She started to ask if I was going to meet friends, or do that ‘anime thing’ on the weekend.
Before she passed away, [At the young age of 53] she’d come to understand that she too, was not too old for something that she enjoyed. And my mother became a fan of Studio Ghibli, and Dragon ball Z of all things…
You are never too old.
So my words of wisdom to you? Stop forcing people to give up on things they love just because you were told to do the same and you were forced to give up on things you enjoyed doing.
Aziraphale is a Principality. It says somewhere in the book something along the lines of he was a principality but people “made jokes about it these days”
Ya but in Genesis 3:24 it says “So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.” I always based my headcanons around the idea that Aziraphale got demoted to a Principality role, with that being among the subjects of aforementioned jokes.
Neil Gaiman has also mentioned that Aziraphale has been around the Heavenly ranks before, so Aziraphale’s actual “true form” is probably up for anyone’s guess, since he’s apparently served in multiple different rankings (this fact gains less attention than it deserves because I fucking love the idea of Aziraphale always being That Guy who gets outsourced). My personal headcanon is that he started off as a cherub because It’s Funny and I like big angels, I cannot lie.

Like, I forget precisely how long the book says he disappears for between threatening his plants and bringing back the Empty Pot Of Doom (and I’ve lent my copy to my mother so can’t check just now), but disposing of a plant really doesn’t take that long.
And I mean, fair enough if Neil Gaiman pops out of the woodwork and tells me I’m wrong, but I really like the idea of Crowley just casually planting his sub-par houseplants in technically-illegal places because that’s a totally demonic thing to do, Aziraphale – it’s against the law and everything but he also sort of secretly likes his plants a bit too much to want to actually murder them when he could totally just make London a bit more Eden-like by planting them in weird places.
Besides which, he gets the enjoyment of knowing he has successfully terrified his remaining plants by subterfuge. I feel like Crowley likes subterfuge (and also that he’s generally a bit crap at it, let’s be real here).
While it pains me to know that you are suffering, please know that you do not suffer alone.

Izuku is terrified b/c he’s having flashbacks to the last time Bakugou’s hands were near his head
HEADCANON: during his time with Best Jeanist, Bakugou learned how to style hair. (well, to be more accurate, Best Jeanist sighed and suggested that Bakugou couldn’t do something as elegant as learn how to style hair with that personality of his, and Bakugou got pissed and learned how just to prove him fucking wrong. also because he has to be the best at everything. which includes hair styling.)
SO one day at the dorms, one of the girls is having a bad hair day, and Bakugou just comes up behind her and fixes it. because goddammit he fucking learned these skills might as well fuckin’ use ‘em
Bakugou instantly becomes the person all the girls go to when they want their hair styled or fixed. at first it annoys him, but then he finds styling hair is actually kinda relaxing. maybe even fun. (he even styles Aoyama’s hair at one point, and some of the other boys too, tho a few just refuse to let Bakugou’s hands near their heads)
so i ended up drawing a little something for this lmao
I personally love your Bakugao styling headcanon. It’s fun and cute! This and the bit with Izuku was hilarious and adorable. I saw this wonderfulpic by Doxolove and it got me thinking about this headcanon all over again.
Like what if Toshinori had to make himself look presentable for an event or something but is all self conscious without his hero form? (the students ban together to try to help?) Or what if he was caught napping on the dorm couch in the rec area and Bakugou just wanted to see what he could do with Toshinori’s hair?
the question is, who would pester him more about it, the girls, the boys, or the teachers
do you think they’d have bets on who it is
and if they do, i’m 100% sure that Todoroki would choose Izuku’s mom because, while he’s never met Inko, and he knows Izuku isn’t All Might’s son, there’s still a connection there and hey it could be he’s Izuku’s step dad or something (also partially just to mess w/ Izuku lmao)

one day, during class, the students all just sort of gang up on him and ask “All Might, do you like this person? Do you like this person?? What about this person???” and poor All Might is like “UHH idk what’s going on?? but the answer is no. why are you even asking????”
(Bakugou was having a bad day and All Might tried to comfort him; he wasn’t sure if it was working and was gonna get up and leave Bakugou alone. he probably wanted his privacy, All Might thought, but Bakugou pulled him back…
looks like he was doing this comfort thing right, after all)
SO this was based on a dream i had where Bakugou was really upset (i don’t know why) and i was trying to comfort him, and then he broke down crying into my hands (pls note: the dream was not romantic at all, he just looked like a very sad, lost, frustrated kid who really needed a hug)
i replaced myself with Uraraka b/c i felt like it would make more sense, haha. i can’t imagine him breaking down crying and doing this with any other character

SO i tried my best, haha. i kind of based this on my own Toshinko Howl’s Moving Castle AU, but here Toshi doesn’t have his All Might glamour on b/c i suck at drawing All Might i thought skeledad Toshi would fit better.

i feel like Uraraka would be the one to initiate most affection between them. be it like, hugs, pats, or kisses, etc. they’re both super…. inactive when it comes to romance (b/c Bakugou tries to avoid it as much as possible and naturally keeps to himself/is a loner, while Uraraka’s really really shy/embarrassed about it; plus both are trying to focus on being a hero first and foremost). but i think Uraraka is just sliiiightly more proactive about it, despite her embarrassment, so she would initiate a lot of stuff between them
Bakugou doesn’t know how to romance so he just kinda goes along with what she does
(tho i think a lot of this wouldn’t happen until like… they were much more comfortable in their relationship, which would be waaaaayyy further down the line. otherwise, both would be too embarrassed or busy to initiate anything)
(also, so i’m not confusing anyone: i don’t think Kacchako will be canon lmao i just don’t think either character is ready for a relationship right now)

we’ve got career minded people slowly falling in love and not knowing what to do. at this stage their relationship is probably low, low pda to where katsuki and ochako feel comfortable enough to do it in private.
i can’t see them being affectionate with each other in public when it’s come to that point, and they don’t have to really. they’re just really chill around each other, and all of their friends/family know.
the early stages of their relationship would be friendship straight up with romantic tension bubbling on both sides as they try to figure things out, and they’d just agree to push it down for now until they’ve reached their goals. but ochako is interested and at most i can see hands held during lunch, battle attacks during training.
while she’s all sweet and cool about it, katsuki’s getting ready to blow his top because what his crush is holding his hand for 2.5 seconds. but yeah this is early on, by time they’ve grown older/mature/full fledge down the line i can see ochako lounging her legs on his lap while watching tv.
but they’re not there yet, and really, too much is going on for them to consider it—explains why she shut those feelings down for deku.

Toshi holds Bakugou as he cries into his chest, sobbing out all his anger and guilt and shame. at the same time, Toshi has a hand on Izuku to reassure him, b/c he’s worried about Bakugou after finding out how this guilt over All Might’s retirement has been burdening him all this time.
afterwards Izuku and Bakugou fall asleep against Toshi, emotionally spent, and Dad Might holds his two sad sleepy sons and eventually joins them in their rest

Just
imagine: It’s winter, and cold, and for some reason, Izuku and Toshinori take
the train to get home from wherever they have been. It’s already late, the
train almost empty, and Izuku is freezing up. So in search for some warmth, he
cuddles against Toshinori’s side. Toshinori, you have to know, is a living,
walking heater. So he’s the perfect
source of warmth for the freezing, tired boy.
Speaking
of tired: Somehow, Izuku manages to fall asleep on Toshinori.
Toshinori
startles when he realizes that Izuku is literally using him as a pillow, and
spits blood in embarrassment and flustered surprise. But once he sees how
content sleeping Izuku looks, he can’t bring himself to move the boy away.
Instead he adjusts, making sure that the boy is comfortable leaning against his
bony shoulder and not going to slip off, and proceeds to watch the lights
passing by at high-speed outside.
(Or
at least, he pretends to. He quickly comes to realize that watching Izuku
sleeping, breathing evenly and scrunching up his nose and murmuring from time
to time, is way more interesting.)
Toshinori being a champ at ‘hide and seek’. Surprisingly at both hiding and finding people. I can see this as a training exercise, what seems like a childish game of hide and seek turns into a serious competition when the kids find that Toshinori always manages to find them.
And god help the kiddos when they have to find Toshinori.
In a game setting Toshinori gets very creative when he has to hide. Using his gaunt form to his advantage he can finds some pretty ridiculous hiding places. On one occasion he actually fell asleep in his hiding spot (probably was a warm and safe feeling place) and was found by Present Mic (who got one hell of a scare) by complete accident long after the game was called off by Aizawa.
That’s a pretty awesome idea! I’d imagine that this is an exercise that the kids would have to do every now and then. Because of things like tracking down villains, stealth, and finding hiding or lost civilians. It’s a fun activity that hones some skills. Plus Toshinori has a good time with it.
But I love the idea that they end up searching for him with a search party. There probably is some worry for his safety (villains seeking revenge and all that whatnot) so when they don’t find him there’s some worry. Then they find him sleeping safe and sound.
On the occasions Toshi does fall asleep when he’s hiding they’ve probably found him in really funny places.
Bakugou: How the fuck did he get in the air vent!?
Aizawa leaves them in his hair for the rest of the day. None of the other students would dare give him shit about it- they’re too scared of him. The other teachers would be pleasantly surprised that there’s some sort of care in his appearance all of a sudden.
Present Mic would joke with him in an effort to figure out why he had flowers in his hair, at first, but Aizawa, not really caring what others’ think, would flatly tell him, “My students wanted to do it, so I allowed them to.”
Then Mic would light up, because holy shit, Aizawa, that’s precious, you softy.
“I didn’t do it to show them kindness, I did it as an exercise to show group collaboration and, partially, to get them to shut up. A logical ruse.”
“Shouta, you’re full of shit, your new name should be Shita,” Mic would retort.
He would take it out at the end of the day, not because he was tired of it, but because he would be afraid the flowers would be ruined when he went off to fight crime at night.
He’d find a book somewhere (the task is nearly impossible, considering there isn’t much in his house anyway), and press every single one of them into the bound pages.

Mic added the cat ears b/c of course he did
the big orange lily is from Bakugou (it’s bright and orange and firey and BIG and he’s gotta have the best flower goddammit), the red one is from Kirishima, the waterlily is from Tsuyu, the purple is from Aoyama (sadly he couldn’t find a bigger purple flower), the forget-me-not is from Tooru, and the rest are from random people in the class haha
they are shamelessly pink and cute and adorable and some of the Hello Kittys are dressed up as heroes (there’s All Might Kitty, Present Mic Kitty, and even the occasional Eraserhead Kitty)
i bet he also has rare Chococat bandaids that he uses for special occasions
one day he sees Keroppi bandaids at the store and buys them b/c they reminded him of Tsuyu. no one finds out about it until he Tsuyu gets a cut one day during practice and Aizawa hands her a Keroppi bandaid. she loves it and gives him a happy, contented frog daughter smile
he, of course, pretends it was a just a spontaneous decision and that it was totally a coincidence. no one in Class 1A believes him
additionally, everyone in Class 1A has had a Hello Kitty bandaid on them at one point. even Bakugou. particularly Bakugou.
sometimes Aizawa will be lenient and give Bakugou Chococat bandaids instead, but if he’s been a particularly terrible little shit that day, Aizawa’ll find the pinkest, girliest, most adorable Hello Kitty bandaid for Bakugou to wear, and pretend like he didn’t intentionally just do that
Bakugou curses but he’s forced to wear it all day, while his classmates snicker at him
(Ochako loves the Hello Kitty bandaids. Kirishima thinks it’s super manly. Tokoyami usually sulks slightly b/c they’re too pink for him. Aoyama somehow gets his hands on glittery Hello Kitty bandaids and wears them proudly. Izuku thinks they’re cute and is kinda fond of them.
Momo loves them and thinks they’re super adorable oh my god. Todoroki is kinda neutral to them, but enjoys the idea of Aizawa caring for them. Shouji is also kinda neutral, but thinks it’s cute that Aizawa has bandaids like that on hand. Mina and Tooru LOVE their cute bandaids and always look forward to getting them after a harsh training session.
Ojirou doesn’t say anything, but silently thinks they’re cute and is actually fond of the pink bandaids. Kaminari and Mineta think that wearing them will attract girls (this, inevitably, fails). Jirou won’t admit it, but she thinks the bandaids are ADORABLE….
Kouda loves to stare at his bandaids b/c they’re just super cute and it’s a tiny little kitty and he’s just super happy and content. Satou wears his proudly (and he also probably owns a Hello Kitty apron). Iida enjoys the practicality of a teacher carrying around extra bandaids in the event that a student may get injured. Sero just thinks it’s kinda funny and wears his bandaids without complaint
basically Bakugou is the only one who’s annoyed with the super cute pink bandaids and everyone else loves them)

i had a really cute dream that Uraraka somehow like…. got hurt, and was in the infirmary (which was, for some reason, huge), but the entire class was hanging around her and a few other students who were hurt (i can’t remember who else it was, but there were at least 3 others)
Bakugou was on her right side and he made her food, and absently brushed her hair while she talked with Mina. he was kinda acting like a grumpy caretaker. and then the class all ended up falling asleep in the infirmary and Bakugou ended up sleeping on the same bed with Uraraka. just kinda…. sprawled out next to her. he kinda looked like he might fall off the bed somehow, but didn’t
some of the other kids were like on the floor, or sleeping in other infirmary beds, or in weird positions, but they all refused to leave the room when their friends were all hurt, haha
and the funny thing is, in the dream, i thought it was from a new chapter or something and i was rushing to make a post about how cute certain panels were and was trying to crop one of them when i woke up

It was a stupid way to get injured; acting like Deku and

classmates.
Bakugou sat facing Aizawa as the teacher bandaged him. Bakugou
could have borne the injuries if Aizawa had not needed to rescue him and the
other students. It was stupid, it was weak, and it was painful.
His face twisted partway between a scowl and a sob and
Bakugou told himself his eyes were watering because of the antiseptic being
applied to his cuts.
He wasn’t crying.
He wasn’t.
He wouldn’t.
A weight settled on Bakugou’s head suddenly, and he furiously
blinked to clear his eyes. An emergency blanket, the type that could be found
in a medical kit, was draped over his head. As he focused on the edges, they
were pulled forward far enough to hide his face.
When Bakugou looked up, Aizawa glanced down at him. There
was no pity. But there was understanding.
So Bakugou let his teacher hide his tears for him.
