Digimon 30 Day Challenge – Day 26

Day 26: What crest would you have

This is hard. On Day 15, I talked about having similar qualities to Sora.

But, honestly, despite this, I think I honor friendship more.

I’m very selective of who I’m friends with. If I choose to be friends with you, you’ve somehow gained my trust, and found a friend for life.

Once that happens, I’m not afraid to tell you the truth, regardless if you want to hear it, or not.

But sometimes I need to feel that same reassurance:

To me, friends = family and family don’t end in blood.

See the list of all 30 Challenge questions here!

grumpygryphon:

‘Come on Gabumon, let’s get up to take some photos! Your pelt won’t melt.’ More of that digimon/ff15 crossover nobody asked for.

One of today’s sketches.

I WOULD have put more effort into this but as this is one of the sketches my PC crashed on I will never touch it again.

plushiluv:

aaaaand here it is, the project that almost killed me ahahahaha. I knew
Gabumon was going to be challenging, but boy was I not prepared for
exactly how challenging he was gonna be! I am super proud of the results
though

Gabumon
measures 25 inches from the top of his head to the ground. He is made
out of minky and short toy faux fur. The stripes in his fur were all
color blocked and took 8+ hours to sew alone. With the exception of his
fingers, this plush is entirely machine sewn! His eyes are machine
embroidered as usual. His ears are also wired.

Just the
prototype for this plush took 3 weeks to perfect, and the final plush
took another full week to build. Considering I make plushies full time
that’s a pretty impressive timestamp on this big guy!

lipstickfurby:

By Caitlyn Gagliano at Smokin’ Aces Tattoo in Illinois. I couldn’t be happier!!! Gabumon is a cutie and Digimon meant a lot to me as a kid, from teaching me about bravery and how to be a good friend to memories of Saturday mornings watching it with my Dad and playing with figures my Mom got me. I would sit in the grass and dirt and play pretend Digimon by our lilac grove outside. Not only is it a cute and fun tat but it reminds me of the times that have been good. 🙂

PLEASE do not steal this design, thanks! 💖

Digimerch Market Reviews: Tag and Crests

digimerch:

Hello, Digifans! It’s review time and in this post, I’ll be reviewing some good ol’ tags and crests that are on the market! I’ll be talking about a lot of sets today; some I own, some I don’t, some are fan made and some are official. So it’s going to be a pretty long post, but I’ll try to cover everything as best as I can to help people find the perfect set for them! Of course, these are my personal opinions, and I welcome anyone who owns any of these to give me their own opinions on the products or even tell me about a set I might have forgotten.

Set #1: Official Bandai 1999

image

Link to product: N/A

Let’s talk about the very first set of crests that was released in 1999 by Bandai. This set is, to put it bluntly, pretty ugly. First, let’s talk about the packaging. It’s very basic and looks like most packaging from it’s time, which is a plastic case with a printed cardboard back and that is the worst kind of packaging ever created and I hate it with a passion. The only good thing about this packaging is that you can clearly see the item in it.

The tag is very basic, there’s a lot of details missing on it and it obviously looks like cheap gold and looks like it would wear off quickly like most cheap brass accessories. It does light up, and let’s be honest, that’s the only big difference between the official sets made by Bandai and most fan made sets. The crest themselves are oddly shaped and the emblem is black, which makes them look pretty cheap and not that pretty. The colors of most of them are pretty off too. Hikari’s crest is a little too dark and looks like Sora’s and Jyou’s crest is light blue instead of gray.

Overall, this set is a big let down, but also a product of its time. Considering it was released in 1999, it’s not that bad, but clearly not the best set out there. When it comes to prices, well, it’s what you’d expect with any official Digimon Bandai merchandise: it’s expensive. It’s very hard to find it under $90 USD with shipping and I’ve never seen it show up on Japanese resell websites. So I’d say unless you are a hardcore collector, this set isn’t worth your money.

Set #2: Official Bandai 2015

image
image

Link to product: N/A

Now, this is the real deal. Like the title says, this set was released in 2015, in the wake of the millions of Digimon Adventure Tri. promotions.  I bought mine used for $100 USD on a facebook group, which is why I don’t have the original box, but to me it didn’t really matter because the box isn’t the best thing about this product; from the many pictures online, it’s just a regular plastic case and doesn’t have much detail on it, so the actual tag and crest is where it’s at. I do, however, have the little tag pin that came with it and made it this little display box and I think it looks much better like this than in its plastic prison (or so I like to tell myself).

Now the tag is what you’d expect it to be, but it’s very thick. That’s because you can put a battery in it that allows it to light up when you press the button at the front, just like for the 1999 set. The tag is quite light, mostly because it’s made of plastic, but all the details are there and it’s pretty nice overall. The crests are exactly like in the anime and look really nice. The only bad thing I can say about it is that when the crest is in the tag, the emblem is a little hard to see, but since it lights up, that solves the problem temporarily since it doesn’t stay lit. Another nitpick I have with both Bandai sets is that they only include the original 8 and not the 3 crests that were introduced in 02 (kindness, miracles, and destiny). Overall this is a wonderful product, but sadly it can be quite expensive, so if you can find it for under 200$ I recommend buying it. It’s not impossible to find at a reasonable price, you just have to be patient.

Set #3: Limited P’Parco Keychain

image

Link to product: N/A

These keychains were released many times during the lifespan of Digimon Adventure Tri. and were specific to the P’Parco pop-up shop. I have the pleasure of owning two of these. They were sold ¥ 980 JPY each, I paid approximately $17 USD for one and ¥ 3,500 JPY (around $30 USD) for the other. As you can see, the prices of these keychains vary greatly. As a set, I never saw them under $100 USD and for that price, you might as well buy the official Bandai set instead.

The product itself is very nice. The tags have all the details, the crests are all accurate and the emblems are visible. Plus, there is digicode around the hoop and a small digivice attached to it. It looks amazing! However, it is super heavy. You wouldn’t expect these to be as heavy as they are. So heavy I can’t even imagine carrying one them around as an actual keychain.

Overall, these are very nice and if you want one or two specific crests, anything under $30 USD is fair, otherwise, you would be overpaying.

Set #4: Toei Metal Charm

image

Product link: N/A

I don’t have any of these since I already have the ones above, so I’m basing myself on outside sources. These looks very basic compared to the previous ones I just talked about. They are somewhat of a cheaper version, more simple in the details and without any of the extras. They were sold for ¥ 500 JPY each and a box cost ¥ 4,000 JPY, which is pretty reasonable. They could be found on the Toei online store as well as animate stores and at the DAFES2016 event. They were made to be used as charms, and so are much smaller and probably a lot lighter than their keychain counterpart.

They don’t look as fancy as the previous one, which can be explained by the fact they wanted to make them cheaper. They still look pretty nice. The picture isn’t really doing them justice at all. The tag has all the details, and I believe the gold is durable. The crests are all accurate color wise and the emblems look good. If you can find a full set with a price between ¥ 4,000 JPY and ¥ 7,000 JPY, I’d say go for it! And if you only want one or two crests, between ¥ 500 JPY and ¥ 1,500 JPY is also good. I don’t see them often on the market, but when they do they’re usually not much more expensive than this.

More sets under the cut!

This isn’t because Burger King is nicer in Denmark. It’s the law, and the US is actually the only so-called “developed” country that doesn’t mandate jobs provide a minimum amount of paid vacation, sick leave, or both.

kinda debunks that claim that they can’t afford to pay their workers those sort of wages and still make a profit

Its corporate greed, plain and simple.

It is the same in Sweden. It is so funny every time an american company opens up offices here and then tries to do it the american way and all the unions go “I don’t think so”.

Like when Toys ‘r Us opened in sweden 1995.

They refused to sign on to the union deals that govern such things as pay/pension and vacation in Sweden. Most of our rights are not mandated by law (we don’t have a minimum wage for example) but are made in voluntary agreements between the unions and the companies.

But they refused, saying that they had never negotiated with any unions anywhere else in the world and weren’t planning to do it in Sweden either.

Of course a lot of people thought it was useless fighting against an international giant, but Handels (the store worker’s union) said that they could not budge, because that might mean that the whole Swedish model might crumble. So they went on strike in the three stores that the company had opened so far.

Cue a shitstorm from the press, and from right wing politicians. But the members were all for it, and other unions started doing sympathy actions. The teamsters refused to deliver goods to their stores, the financial unions blockaded all economical transactions regarding Toys ‘r Us and the strike got strong international support as well, especially in the US.

In the end, Toys ‘r Us caved in, signed the union deal, and thus their employees got the same treatment as Swedish store workers everywhere.

The right to be treated as bloody human beings and not disposable cogs in a machine.

and that story right there? is exactly why Republicans in the US work so hard to bust unions. it’s because unionizing WORKS and they’re terrified of workers actually having some power.

Is Autism Speaks really as bad as people say it is?

lily-orchard:

Having been forced to deal with them and organizations like them, I can safely say “No.”

It is obscenely worse.

You see, any idiot can look at things like “we need a cure” and their anti-vaccination advocacy and realize how ridiculously stupid that it.

But that’s not what they sell to children’s hospitals. Instead, they push extremely unconventional medications to “help” autistic children (usually by sedating them into a catatonic state). I mentioned earlier that Risperidol eases overstimulation, but Autism Speaks doesn’t like Risperidol because it’s not controlling enough.

Autism Speaks absolutely loves “treatments” and “counselling” based around controlling everything autistic children do. Stimming, self-coping mechanisms, even strange and oddball quirks like kids who wear gloves everywhere, all of these are taken from them and doled out as privileges. It’s all about turning anything an autistic child likes into something they can control.

They treat these children like fucking animals and really enjoy forced isolation as a punishment. The IWK has several “Secure Isolation Rooms” that they will place autistic children in their care into for hours at a time unsupervised when they start acting out. And not “having a meltdown and might accidentally hurt someone” kind of acting out, even just mouthing off or getting lippy with a nurse.

I am personally convinced that the whole “cure” motto is a sham, because studies into Autism long ago disproved the theory that it was something that needed curing. Autism Speaks behaves more like a eugenics organization. And they are slippery bastards about it too.

I’ve had the displeasure of having to interact with them directly because they have such a stranglehold on Nova Scotia’s youth mental health that any counseling group inevitably gets calls from them. Speaking to them and hearing the tone with which they spoke about these poor kids made my fucking skin crawl.

If you’re an autistic child and they’re talking to your parents or counselor about you, they won’t even use your name. The Child, The Patient, and The Boy/Girl are all common ways to refer to these kids. On several occasions they’ve referred to some kid as “it.”

I’ve said before that Tumblr especially doesn’t quit know what Autism Speaks is, and that’s because their public persona is very carefully crafted. Their reputation is so cartoonish that doctors who don’t know better won’t believe it, and so they swoop in with a lot of pretty language and faux-politeness. The skeezy, contemptuous way they behave when they think they’re doing business is enough to make you fucking vomit.

You quickly learn why so many hospitals willingly work with them. They are very good at getting their claws into health care organizations because they have this almost sinister “Friendliness” to them, and when you combine this with the fact that a lot of child psychologists have absolutely no concern for the actual well-being of children (just making the parents happy so they continue footing the bill) you have a recipe for a truly horrifying experience.

I can’t fully articulate just how sickening they are. Take however bad you THINK they are, multiply it by a hundred, and then think about how Quentin Tarantino would inflate that to make a movie out of it.

That’s how fucking gross and vile they really are when they think nobody is watching.

8 Ways to Improve Your Writing

theliteraryarchitect:

I got a great anonymous ask last week from someone who wanted to know how to identify weak spots in their writing. One
of the things that comes with time and experience is finding the
language to identify, discuss, and address the feeling that something
isn’t quite right or that a story is “missing something.”
Not
knowing them or their writing, of course I couldn’t help them figure out what
specifically the problem was. But I did share with them a list of things I’ve done
over the years to be able to identify weak spots and improve my writing.

1. Analyze your favorite writers.

Figure
out why you like the writing that you like.
Ask yourself: What are they
doing here? What are they doing that I’m not doing? Why do I love their
writing so much? Take notes on their stories. Plot them. Write in the
margins. Read them slowly. Read their reviews—both good and bad. Did
that writer you love once write something you hated? Great, even better.
Figure out why that particular book was different from the others.

2. Analyze your own writing.

Do you have an older story you wrote that you love? Figure out why.
What did you do differently in that story that you’re not doing in the
current story you’re writing? Make notes. Draw maps. Reverse engineer
everything.

3. Develop a language to talk and think about writing.

Read
craft books, blogs, anything you can get your hands on. Learn about
point of view, conflict, character development, dialogue, story
structure, syntax, metaphors. Get your advice from good sources, and
don’t believe everything you read. If something doesn’t sit right with
you, throw it out. But be open to everything.

4. Journal and write about your writing.

Over time, you will identify consistent weaknesses that you have. Then,
in the future, when you feel like “something is missing” from your
writing, you can reference your notes and remember, for example, that
you often have difficulty with your protagonist’s motivation, with
theme, with dialogue, etc., and you’ll have a better idea about where to
go looking.

5. Share your writing with someone you trust, ideally a more experienced writer than you or an editor or mentor.

Be very careful about who you share your writing with. Friends and
family are not always the best choice. You don’t want someone who’s just
going to throw around their uneducated opinion about your work, who has
a big ego, or who won’t be honest with you. Remember: “I liked it” or
“I didn’t like it” are useless pieces of feedback. You want someone who
can read your work and say, “Your protagonist’s passion for music made
them really likeable to me. I was dying to know whether they would get
into the conservatory or not!” or “My attention wandered on page two,
when you described the couch upholstery for three paragraphs.”

6. Analyze the areas of your writing which are commonly problematic for new writers (and writers in general).

In
my experience as an editor, the most likely culprits are unclear
character motivation and lack of conflict. There are a lot of good
resources (books and blogs) about this. Try a Google search for “most
common mistakes beginning writers make.”

7. Trust your intuition.

Do you keep coming back to the same page or scene in your story, feeling like it isn’t right? You’re probably onto something.

8. Take time away from your writing.

You’d
be amazed how much more clear everything will be after a break. Give
yourself at least a week for a short story, 3-4 weeks for a novel. It
could also be the case that your ambitions for this particular story
don’t yet match your skills, and that you’ll have to wait even longer to
successfully finish it. I’ve known writers who have given up on a story
only to come back to it months or years later once they’d gained the
skills and insight to complete it. And then suddenly writing that story
seemed really easy!

Anon asked: S/o ask “what would you do if I died? What should I do if you died? Should move on without you? what about vise versa?” How do chocobros respond?

This took forever to answer, haha. Goodness gracious. Sorry for the absolute radio silence, I’ve been doing a shitton of stuff. I moved into my college dorm last week, the first day of classes was a couple days ago, I’ve been a busy bee. I actually stayed up kinda late to write this.

Anyways, I meshed together two requests for this one and also lowkey made it OT4+1, so there’s that. I hope this isn’t terrible, enjoy!

When Noctis accepted that hunt, immediately you know something terrible was bound to happen. It was a hunch, or maybe a gut feeling – either way, you knew. You said as much to the others in your group, and while Prompto reluctantly agreed with you, Ignis disagreed with you, and that pretty much settled things. If Ignis had no reason to be concerned, then why did you? Besides, you could always do with some extra money lining your pockets.

As it would seem, things were not as simple as anticipated. Your gut feeling was right.

You all managed to fell the beast, but the triumph was not without a price. Ignis had a nasty wound in his side, and it was practically all you could do to stop the bleeding and get him stitched up. Prompto’s hands were practically out of commission with how much damage they’d taken from the excessive recoil of his guns and he might have been dealing with a minor concussion. Noctis could barely move on his own, the sheer amount of magic used in the battle taking its toll on his already-tired body and sending jolt after jolt of pain through him with every breath. Gladio had dislocated his shoulder and his body was positively covered in bruises. He already had a new set of scars forming on his skin. You left the battle with a few broken ribs and a severe gash across the bridge of your nose from an attack that nearly took your eye out. Doubtlessly, it would become a scar.

You all immediately fled to the nearest hotel for some much-needed rest and recovery. You were going to lose some days, perhaps more than a week, but there was no choice. None of you were in any condition to travel, and if you got attacked on the road, you’d be dead meat.

It was during this time that you sought out Dave. Luckily for you, he happened to be nearby, and you made your request to him. The expression on his face was solemn, but he fulfilled it with little fanfare.

The very next day, you had yourself a set of hunter’s tags. Logically, you knew that they were small things made out of a lightweight material, but you couldn’t help but feel an extreme heaviness as you looped the chain around your neck. It was like having the weight of your own soul settled on top of your chest. At first, it was heavy and oppressive and you almost felt like you were suffocating, but in a few days’ time, it was a comforting weight grounding you to reality.

Perhaps you should have anticipated that the others would not feel the same about your decision.

This was more funny in my head.

“This is bullshit”

“Language.”

“Fuck you.”

“Showing a bit of a temper there Noct.” Said Prince threw the cards in his hands on the table.

“Maybe I wouldn’t if SOMEONE wasn’t always winning!” He looked at his advisor with a scowl, the expression deepening as he saw the smirk appearing on his face.

“Frustrated Noct?”

“We ALL tried to beat you and you still won! So YES.”

“Good.” Prompto laughed, grabbing everyone’s cards and shuffling the deck again.

“So he’s a card master and can never be beaten by us mortals, not like that’s anything new, Wanna start another round buddy?”

“Damn right I do, I won’t stop till I’ve won, Gladio, help avenge my honor!” He grabbed the cards dealt to him and glared at Ignis, as if expecting him to try and peek at his cards.

“Come now Noctis, it’s merely a game.” Noctis scoffed at his words.

“It’s a matter of life and death.” Prompto snorted at that.

“Dude, it’s UNO.” Prompto wasn’t fazed when he got a glare in response.

“Life and death!” Gladio shook his head and grabbed his cards.

“Just let the Princess get what he wants, not like it’ll help him win, no matter if we help him or not.” He earned a glare from said princess for that comment.

“Once I’m finished with him, you’re next.”

“Looking forward to it m’lady.”

“And what is going on here?”

“Dad!”

“Your Majesty.” Regis looked amused as he moved closer to the four sitting down.

“Playing a game I see.” Noctis grumbled as he looked down at his cards, Regis could only chuckle.

“Seems someone isn’t blessed by the cards today.” Prompto snorted before covering his face, hoping no one noticed.

“He’s never blessed when facing Iggy.” Ignis shrugged, picking his cards up again.

“Merely aware of his highness’ cues.’ Noctis slowly shook a fist at him, earning more laughter from the group, Gladio grinning widely.

“He just sucks at UNO.” Regis looked at the cards and nodded solemnly.

“Ah UNO, truly a test of skill, I can see why he would be angered that he, as young Gladiolus said, ‘sucks at UNO’. “ He looked at his son pitifully. “Realizing his lack of skill is a perfectly fine reason to be angry.”

“DAD!”

The three laughed at the king’s words but roared at the prince’s look of pure betrayal.

“I trusted you and you betray me like this? I challenge you to a battle to the death!” Regis shrugged, not looking phased.

“If you wish to taste defeat at the hands of your father, I’ll be glad to put you into place.”

“Oooh dude, he just threw down the gauntlet!!” Prompto looked both excited and freaked out that he was about to play with the king. Noctis had fire in his eyes.

“Beating me might be easy-“ “Oh look, he admits it.” “-SHUT UP GLADIO, but can you beat Iggy here?” Regis looked at Ignis for a brief moment before turning away, not at all concerned.

“It would be nice to play against a possibly difficult opponent.” Ignis stared at him, a look in his eyes as he gently placed his cards on the table.

“…’possibly’…?” Regis made a small noise, as he looked at his son’s cards.

“Well, i’ve faced worst opponents than a child.” He looked at his son. “Or CHILDREN, as this current case is.” Noctis slammed a fist on the table as Ignis adjusted his glasses.

“Oh it is ON old man! Ignis, re-deal the cards!”

“Very well.” Regis sitting down as he shuffled.

“Let’s all have fun shall we?” He said with a simple smile.

“I’ll get a set of cards so good, I’ll slaughter you all in one strike!”

“Big words my son, but can you back them up?”

“I’ll enjoy witnessing the upcoming events taking place as I once again take victory.”

“Such confidence, it shall be amusing watching your downfall.”

“You mean it shall be amusing watching YOUR downfall.”

“Wishing for the downfall of your king?”

“Only when it matters.”

“Dude. It’s a GAME.” Noctis, Regis, and Ignis turned to Prompto before looking at each other.

“Battle to the death.” Noctis declared fiercely.

Regis smiled and nodded. “Battle to the death.”

Ignis hummed and tapped his cards. “Battle to the death.”

Gladio laughed as he watched Prompto begin to look nervous at the aura the three men were displaying. He knocked on the table and placed a card down.

“I’ll go first but I think Prompto here has a really good set of cards.” He says gleefully as Prompto looked at him in horror as the other three turned their sharp, calculating eyes at him. “let’s see who wins this round.”

Gladiolus Amicitia Romantic Headcanons:

·
You know how some people can flirt with a ton of
people easily and then that one person catches them off guard and they become a
blubbering mess? That’s Gladio. Boy could barely string together when he was
first asking you out. But it’s cool because you ended up with him anyway

·
Hugs from this man are the best. They are warm,
engulfing, and so comfy. After a bad day he’ll just take you in his arms and
hold you ever so tightly, swaying you back and forth

·
Loves having his hair played with and will drag
your fingers through his scalp when you two are sitting next to one another to
encourage you

·
Gives really good massages. Warm, strong hands
will work away all the knots in your back and soothe you to sleep

·
The headcanons of helping him workout, aka
sitting on his back while he does pushups, are my favorites and I can
definitely see that. Beyond sitting on his back, you hold his feet down for sit
ups, rewarding him with a kiss after each one. Pull-ups find you perched close
with a ladder; more kisses ensue. Can’t really kiss you until the end of his
runs, and he’s kinda sweaty and gross, but still nabs you in for one

·
Picture reading together, legs crossed over each
other sharing the warmth of a blanket and one another’s presence. Hands that
find each other while the other keeps hold of your respective books

·
Library book dates in which you both lose
yourself in whatever novels catch your fancy and end up exchanging the ones you
think each other would like best

·
Often times dinner dates are actually cup noddle
dates. You’ve tried so many variations that you didn’t even know existed, but
it makes him happy, which makes you happy, so it’s a win-win

·
But he does indulge on romantic gestures. He
loves reading romance novels, and he’ll take some of those into your dates: a
night under the stars, coffee shop dates, picnics, candlelit dinners, the works
you know?

·
Is guilty of spoiling you with gifts: items he
saw in the shops of windows that he thinks you might like, novels you’ve
expressed interest in, and any other interests that you have

·
Supportive of any and all goals you have set for
yourself. You wanna be the best in the orchestra you play with? He’s there
listening to you practice. You wanna make it onto this sport team? He’s the one
training you and learning all about it so he can do it properly. Want your art
shown in a gallery? He’s already buying you all the supplies you’ll need. With
all aspirations, he is supporting you every step of the way

·
Thought Ignis was the most chivalrous? THINK
AGAIN IT’S GLADIO WHO HOLDS THAT TITLE

·
Gladio’s love is warming and enrapturing. Make
sure you give that same love back to him in retur

If it hasn’t been done already, can you have the chocobros comfort their S/O after they found out a loved one has passed?

theydonotbindus:

Hi, thanks for the ask! This was somewhat cathartic to write–my father has terminal cancer–so thank you very much for the timely request.

Noctis is silent, but there, his presence like a security blanket for his S/O. Even if they insist they’ll be fine, he’ll be sitting on their couch waiting for the inevitable breakdown or five that day. He doesn’t tell them that it will get better, or that it happened for a reason, but that this wave will pass.

Prompto collects photographs for the funeral, and also makes an album to reminiscence for when they’re ready. Cries with them, but makes sure they stay hydrated and will east fast food with them for a week if that helps too. Somehow makes them feel like it’s okay to sob in the grocery store.

Gladio has a sixth sense for when his S/O gets too caught up in their sorrow, and he’ll call or text or show up just as the grief crests. If they need to get out of their home, they can crash with him. Gives a lot of long, firm hugs and will suggest memorial tattoo ideas if that’s their thing.

Ignis takes on emotional labor–he’s snarling at people who say callous things, he’s sending thank-yous for flowers, he’s handling the legal side of it. Once he knows they have nothing but grief to worry about, he’ll sit and hold their hand. And his planning will screech to a halt if his S/O is having a horrible day.

“You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.” Marcus Cole, Babylon 5

how would Gladiolus go about making friends with someone who is was nervous and discouraged around people? Like they’re a little withdrawn because they’re always prepredicting an attack instead of friendliness? (probably due to being bullied in the past)

theydonotbindus:

Hi Anon, thanks for the ask!

  • Gladio has an advantage going in–something about him is inherently charming and trustworthy, so this person is just a little less guarded.
  • When he talks to NPCs in the game, he always appears to be more invested in them than he is in presenting himself (e.g. Sania–he knows about her nature knowledge and suggests Noct talk to her).
    • This might come across as suspicious to a guarded person, so he probably makes sure to interject a bit about himself too. Little things like “I prefer XYZ dessert there” or “I usually walk by here on my way to ABC.”–just enough to humanize himself.
  • Isn’t going to judge them for being withdrawn–some folks are just like that, you know? Especially won’t if they have a backstory to being that way.
  • If they’re intimidated by his size…well, not a lot he can do there. But he probably tries to keep body language non-threatening and his voice lighter/happier.
  • Will unabashedly use Iris or Prompto as a prop. Look, they trust him! He’s a trustworthy guy!
  • Gladio is patient. If they prefer to just text for a few weeks–cool. If they don’t want to grab coffee and chat with just him–he gets it. If they finally work up their courage and see if he wants to check out something in town, he’ll do everything he can to get out of existing plans that day.

You smiled as the flannel blanket was wrapped around your shoulders. It wasn’t particularly cold, but Ignis knew you liked the comfort more than anything. He sat next to you, watching Gladio stomp what little was left of the fire, the taste of marshmallow and chocolate still thick on his tongue.

“Are you tired, dear?” Ignis asked, turning to press a kiss to your temple. You leaned into him, returning a kiss to his lips.

“A little,” you admitted. “Still wanna sit out here with you two, though.”

Ignis smiled and pressed his forehead against yours as Gladio walked to the two of you, sighing a little as he sat on the opposite side of you. His hand slid down your lower back and meeting Ignis’s, their hands entwining.

“Nothing much to see now, Princess,” Gladio smiled. “Let’s get to bed.”

You pouted, a look Gladio easily kissed away before he pressed a kiss to the tip of Ignis’s nose. Both men helped you up despite your efforts to stay put and they walked slowly with you, hands held and kisses traded as the last wisps of smoke curled into the night sky.

I LOVE THE WAY YOU DRAW GLADIO AND RAVUS AHHHHHHH IT’S MY NEW OTP THANK YOU

Not sure if you already did this, but can we see how the chocobros comfort their S/O during a loud storm at night?

theydonotbindus:

Hi, thanks for the ask!

Noctis

image

Noct lets his S/O make a blanket burrito and holds them–they feel safe, he gets to sleep, win-win. He hates his S/O being scared, but gets some of the best cuddles while it’s storming.

Prompto

image

Prompto takes the distraction approach and makes a blanket fort, entertaining his S/O until the storm passes. They fall asleep in the fort, and both laugh the next morning when they complain of a sore back.

Gladio

image

Gladio also takes the distraction route and turns on music loud enough to drown out the noise, dancing with his S/O. Once they’re exhausted, he goes to bed with them, pulling the covers over their heads.

Ignis

Ignis’ S/O gets set up with noise-canceling headphones and a hot drink. He somehow then convinces them to go to sleep, and so long as they can snuggle up, they’re just fine.

Let’s say Ardyn has had children. Two thousand years later the chocobros discover their s/o is Ardyn’s descendant. How would they take it?

theydonotbindus:

Hi Anon, thanks for the ask!

Noctis is going to have a “wait we’re related?!” panic moment before he realizes just how far back that relation splits. Otherwise, it doesn’t bother him and he’s very nonchalant about it.

Prompto is very quick to reassure his S/O that where they come from–especially that far back!–doesn’t bother him. After all, they don’t judge his origins, right?

Gladio asks them if it bothers them. When they say they’re more concerned if it bothers him, he shrugs it off and tells them they didn’t exactly get to pick their family tree.

Ignis isn’t concerned with their heritage–go back far enough and we’re all related to somebody unscrupulous–but he is worried about what Ardyn might do if he learns of their connection to him.

Ardyn x F!Reader Series

Listen, yall, I keep having this idea when I’m trying to write things and I just have to get it out so I can focus on other projects. This isn’t going to be a one shot because it’s too long to fit in one post and I wanted to give the reader the option to stop reading at any time because this thing is gonna get DARK.

I went a lot little off cannon here and rewrote the plot to fit the story so I hope you don’t mind! I’m willing to explain anything if you’re confused so just shoot me an ask. Also, if I don’t tag something correctly, please let me know and I’ll change it accordingly! Enjoy~

The sun peeked through the clouds and reflected off of the snow as the train continued its trek through Gralea. You were sat next to Noctis, who was sulking, and talked to Prompto who sat across from you. Gladio was sitting in the seat on the other side of the aisle with Ignis, but seemed to be brooding in his spot, as well. The tension was high after Iggy’s misfortune and losing Luna. Despite this, you and Prompto attempted to keep the atmosphere light.

“Hey, did you see the new gear on Kingsnight?” Asked Prompto.

“The gear you get from the anniversary event? Yeah! I’m still trying to level up enough to get the full armor suit from defeating the final boss,” you rave. Out of the corner of your vision, you see Gladio stand and stomp off down the car. Making a big show of leaving, the tension grew with each passing second. “Uh, so anyway, what about you? Did you get anything cool?”

Prompto chuckled half heartedly but still attempted to keep the conversation going. “Yeah, I actually got the new rev-”

“Can you two stop pretending everything’s okay?” Noctis interrupted. “Gods, it’s painful just listening to you two!” He yelled. With that, the prince stormed off in the direction Gladio did. The two of you sat, dumbfounded. Your chest ached at his reprimand and you’re sure Prompto felt the same guilt and sadness that you did.

“That was entirely uncalled for.” Ignis finally spoke after staying silent most of the ride. The sudden voice startled you and you jumped a bit in your seat. “You both did nothing wrong.”

“It’s alright, Ignis,” Prompto spoke meekly.

“No. It is unacceptable for him to take out his frustrations onyou. His pain does not designate a right to mistreat others.”

You and Prompto silently agree with Ignis and you all continue to wait quietly for something to happen, although none of you really had any idea what exactly you were waiting for. Noctis or Gladio to return? One of you to say something about the way the two of them left? Growing tired of sitting anxiously, you decided to get up and investigate. Prompto rose to follow, but you told him to stay with Iggy while you went to retrieve the angry prince and his shield. Making your way down the train car, you were tousled slightly by the rock of the vehicle. Two cars down, you ran into the two men arguing loudly in front of a few other riders and making a scene. You rushed over when you saw Gladio take a few steps toward Noctis with his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

“You can’t keep running away from your problems! Your people need you but you’re just sitting around and throwing yourself a pity party!” The larger man seethed.

“Yeah? Well you go through everything I have and then come talk to me! You honestly think I don’t know my people need me?” Noctis yelled back.

Stepping between them, you pushed your arms out on either side of yourself in an attempt to separate the two angry men. “Hey! Clam down!” The guys ignored you and kept pushing back against you as if you weren’t even there. The fighting was really beginning to escalate and you fully expected some hands to start flying. You looked to your boyfriend in an attempt to reason with him but he continued to glare up at Gladio. Grabbing Noctis by the arm, you tried to gain his attention but ended up sprawled on the floor instead. It took a moment for you to process what just happened while you stare up at your best friend shoving Noct backward and watching him push back. You hear Gladio yell about you being on the ground when you finally realised it was Noctis who shoved you out of the way and ultimately to the floor. Anger rose in your chest and you got to your feet before stepping in front of the shield and stood before Noctis.

A sharp slap rang through the room and your hand stung from the impact. “Asshole, will you get your shit together!” The prince looked completely shocked, his eyes wide and distant. “You’re too caught up in your own bullshit to realise you’re hurting people around you? Regardless of what happened to me, your friends and your people need your guidance now more than ever! So get your head out of your princely ass and be a King!”

Storming away from the two, now bewildered men, you left for the farthest car you could manage to find in order to cool down. Entering the farthest carriage possible, you were met with the sight of the Regalia. Rolling your eyes, you began to pace the room.

You couldn’t believe Noctis would be so engrossed in an argument to comepley ignore your existence and push you out of his way like that. You exploding on him was justified, that much was for sure. Gladio was right. Noct needs to grow up and lead his kingdom. Defeating Ardyn can wait, can’t it? Although a lot of Noct’s anger seems to stem from that man, You wondered why. In fact, you wondered a lot of things Noctis never told you about. You always thought that with him being your boyfriend he would open up more about his royal duties and such, but after his arranged marriage to Lunafreya, he seemed more closed off than ever.

Realising you needed to get out of your head for a bit, you began to make your way back to the bar. Still, as you walked, you couldn’t help thinking of him and how your lives seemed to be so pre-written for anguish.

A flash of burgundy passed by you in a blur and you turned to face the almost familiar sight only to come across nothing more than an empty carriage. The seats that held passengers moments ago were now empty and you feel a chill run down your spine. A rush of air hit the back of your neck and you pivoted quickly to look behind you. Again, nothing greeted your frantic eyes.

Suddenly, a hand gripped your shoulder. You summoned your weapons in a literal flash and held them to the flesh of the suspected enemy.

When your eyes focused and your mind cleared enough to comprehend anything other than the adrenaline rushing through you, you were met with the wide eyes of Gladiolus. Releasing the air you didn’t realise you were holding in, you dropped your weapons and stepped back.

“Geez, Princess, you’re on edge. Is everything alright?” He peered down at you with genuine concern.

You ran a hand over your face and sighed. “I’m fine. I just need a drink.”

“Yeah, alright.” Gladio lightly pushed your shoulder to lead you to the car that served the much needed alcohol. You began to apologise when you both felt the train abruptly rock. You braced yourself but the shield was there to catch your fall. “What the hell was that?”

“I don’t know, but we need to find the others and make sure everyone’s okay,” you replied in slight panic.

Rushing through the other cars, the two of you were met with terrified people and magitek troops on the sides of the train. Looking to Gladio, you both summoned your weapons and began to fight. Quickly, the machines were unlatched from the sides and you were continuing through the rest of the train to reach the rest of your entourage.

You could see Noctis rush out of the carriage you found Ignia in and went to go after him when you noticed Prompto was missing. You kept moving and attempted to follow Noct but he moved much faster than you and having to stop to fight off more magiteks wasn’t helping you catch up. Finally reaching the last carriage, Noct and Prompto were nowhere in sight. You had already been in every other car on the train when you made your way there, so where else could they be?

You looked around to see the last door opened to a ladder that led to the top of the rail car. That had to be it. You climbed up as best you could with the train still rocking sporadically with each hit to its body. You had to grip the handles tightly to keep from slipping off. When you made it to the top, you could barely see the figures standing there through the snowfall. Shielding your face from the harsh winds, you kept close to the ground in order to stay steady.

As you got closer to the figures, you could make out the auburn hair of Ardyn and his coats as well as the slim build of Noctis in his dark clothing. You called out to him but received no response. The wind must have been too loud for him to hear. You crept closer and closer until you could clearly see the two men fighting over something, Noct’s sword drawn and swinging. You called out again only to watch as your lover turned toward you and the butt of a gun hit him in the back of his head, Noct’s body falling in response.

“Noctis!” You screamed. You wanted to charge at his attacker but you couldn’t gain purchase on the roof from the snowfall. Instead, you moved as quickly as you could but your elbows and knees were soon groaning in protest from all of the falls you were taking. Ardyn grinned at you, amused at your struggle. You passively cursed your kingsglaive boots for being so slippery and continued to make your way to him with your weapons drawn. Once within swinging distance, you aimed for the side of his head first, only to be blocked by his arm coming up to prevent the blow. A quick fist to your abdomen knocked the air from your lungs but you continued to fight.

You positioned yourself to bring your knee up to his side but he blocked you again, this time grabbing the leg you were using to sweep your other one from underneath you. Your head impacted with the steel of the train and you felt the intense throb radiate through your entire body. Still, you moved to stand but Ardyn kept you down with his boot to your centre, effectively keeping your body from being able to lift.

“Such a waste of energy.” The low voice of the chancellor rang through your ears. “Now, what will I do with you?”

Leaving

thechocoboos:

It’s college time, guys. A dear friend of mine is leaving tomorrow morning for her first year of college, and I figured that she could do with a going away present. It’s not perfect, but hey, what writing is? @angelic-guardienne

Genre: sliiice of life?
Word Count: 1312
Warnings: just a little sad
Pairing: If you squint there’s some Ignis/reader

That’s it. It’s here. The very day you’ve been dreading for two months straight: the day you go to college. You keep telling yourself that it’ll be fine, but you never really believe it.

It’s a day that comes to many people – a day when you go off on your own and leave those you love behind. It’s a day of change, a day to look forward and see the life ahead of you. Even so, you couldn’t help but turn around and look at the life behind you, instead.

As you turned around, you caught sight of the four men who stood behind you: Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, and Gladio. You hadn’t known them for long, but the few years you’ve spent together felt like an eternity. Saying goodbye to them was saying goodbye to family.

Noctis was smiling at you. His arms were lazily crossed and his boots mismatched as always, but there was a certain edge to his posture and a tenseness to his smile that reminded you of his own parting woes. Still, he gave you a nod of encouragement, his grey eyes holding the familiar warmth of your friendship.

When your eyes slid to Prompto, you could only wish that he was holding up as well as Noctis. There were tears in his cornflower blue eyes – the same eyes that smiled at you on days when you felt so sad, the same eyes that held encouragement and support whenever your high school studies felt like too much. Prompto was crying with snot dripping down his nose and the occasional sob leaving his lips. Prompto was a star to you, a wonderful ball of warmth that radiated encouragement even when he was down. Watching him cry only reminded you of your own unshed tears.

Gladio was holding strong. He stood tall, his broad shoulders squared up as he looked at you by your car. His arms were crossed, just like Noctis, although there was a certain ease to his stance and a laid back smile on his face. His amber eyes were warm as they met your own, and the solidity you found waiting for you in his gaze filled your entire being with confidence. Things would be tough, yes, but you would be just fine; you always were. Gladio’s warm gaze and lazy smile was a reminder of how much he believed in you as well as how much you should believe in yourself.

Ignis. Meeting his eyes was more painful than the others. There were many things between you two, things said and unsaid. Any of your four friends could tell you that Ignis was your favorite out of them, regardless of how often you would tell them that you had no favorite. Ignis had been helpful and kind, but pushy and blunt at the same time. He was a man of contrast, but he had always been what you needed. Whenever you needed a push, he was there. Whenever you needed a cup of tea or a someone to listen, he was there. He was always there.

His light green eyes were searching your own. They held so many words, so many emotions, but you weren’t sure what any of them meant. Your eyes were filling up with tears, your chest clenching and your heart aching beneath your shirt.

You were so scared of what the future would hold, and staring into Ignis’ eyes only made you realize how much you weren’t ready – how much you just wanted to turn your car off and run into his arms to stay here forever.

You squeezed your eyes shut and dropped your head before the tears had a chance to fall. Your ears were full of the sound of your running engine, your stomach lurching from the idea of your future. Things were changing so fast – you had so much to say and do and –

Footsteps. There were footsteps, and then a warm hand on your shoulder.

You paused, lifting your tearful eyes for a single moment only to meet Ignis Scientia’s once more. His face was grave and his eyes were just as sad as your own.

“Everything is changing.” He told you, as if you hadn’t said to yourself hundreds of times. “But that’s alright.” He lifted his other hand, brushing a lock of hair behind your ear. “You have a bright future ahead of you and potential beyond the horizon.

“I know how much you worry, whether it be about money or your grades… But you’re a resourceful, intelligent young woman and I believe, one hundred percent, that you’ll come out of this as an even better person.”

His voice was soft as he spoke, but his gaze was firm and certain. Everything he said was the truth, whether you thought so or not. Ignis Scientia never lied to you, and he wasn’t about to start now.

Still, his warm words hung in the air and blanketed your shoulders. You felt the tears falling as your breath caught and a choked sob escaped your throat. You cried, tears of fear, of anxiety, and of uncertainty. Ignis’ words were what you needed to hear, but not what you wanted. You wanted him to tell you to stay, that college could wait another year, but you knew it was time to say goodbye.

Another hand joined Ignis’. Looking up through your tearfilled vision, Noctis was smiling at you, tears of his own pricking in the corners of his eyes. His smile was shaky at best, but it was more honest than the fake smile from earlier.

“Specs is right. You’re gonna be just fine.” He said, pausing for a moment, “But uh… Listen, we’re gonna miss you, too, alright? Call us every now and then. We’ll pick up.” His voice was as shaky as his smile. He let out a choked laugh, wiping away a tear that trailed down his cheek.

Two thin arms wrapped themselves around you, tugging you close and squeezing you tightly. “I’m gonna miss you so much!” Prompto cried, his tears only flowing more as he tried to stifle his half cries. “Listen,” He began, pulling away. “Noct says to call every now and then, but he’s lying- call every day! And if you need anything, we’re just a phonecall away!”

You managed a small laugh at that, nodding towards Prompto as you wiped away some tears and gave him a shaky smile. You’d miss his bright smile and wonderful attitude, but like he said, they were just a phonecall away.

A heavy hand landed on your head, urging you to look up. Gladio was standing behind you, his smile much sadder than you’d originally thought.

“Don’t give up, kid. You’ve dealt with worse.” He told you, voice a little rockier than normal. “Remember, we’ve got your back, even if you’re far away.” He patted your head at that, stepping back with a loud sniff and wiping his nose on the back of his hand.

Your heart was aching a little less now, your tears all but gone. As you looked at the four men around you, from Ignis to Gladio to Prom and Noct, you knew things would be just fine. They believed in you, and so did everyone else in your life.

Things would be just fine, and this time, you believed it.

As you climbed into your car, your four friends waving at you with encouraging smiles, you felt something other than anxiety rising in your stomach: confidence.

Things will be fine. Your friends will miss you and you’ll miss them, but they support you no matter what. You’re strong, capable, and intelligent; the future is yours. Don’t lose sight of it by looking back too much. Many of the things you had, you’ll have again, and those four friends of yours? They’re waiting for you in your future, too.

Hi. What would Gladio do if he learned that his girlfriend’s father is an asshole, which is easier to yell at the daughter, humiliate, hit.

promptoschocohoe:

image

Gladio would not deal with this shit for an instant. The second he finds out the type of person her father is, he wants his girlfriend to move in with him at any cost. Don’t worry about packing, he’ll buy her a new wardrobe and all her necessities. He’ll ask her to quit her job if she has too; it’s not more important that her well being and safety. He’ll help her find another and support her until she does.

He’ll listen when she’s ready to talk and help her get into therapy. While he may not understand it, if she wants a relationship with her father Gladio will support and respect her decision.

However, don’t expect Gladio to be so kind to him, more so if there’s sexual or physical abuse. Gladio wont go around bragging – or even speaking – about it, but his girlfriend will probably be relieved to not have heard from her father for so long. She wont know he’ll spent several weeks recovering from a dislocated jaw, a shattered hip, broken ribs and nose, and a broken pelvis bone from being thrown out of a window and stomped, among other things. She’ll tenderly kiss Gladio’s bruised knuckles, wondering what the hell his training had gotten him into.

Gladio wont fuck around and neither do I. If you or someone you know is dealing with any type of abuse at home, talk to someone –  a friend, a family member, a therapist, a counselor, a teacher, a priest, a neighbor, or a hotline. There’s someone who cares, although it may not seem like it. Most American state counties have a social services (welfare) office where abuse can be reported. The American hotline is (1-800) – 422 – 4453. Keep in mind these websites may appear in search histories/cookies.

lgbt-ffxv-imagines:

Gladiolus:

– While some of his mannerisms and ways of dealing with conflict can be rather coarse, he’s always ready to come to his s/o’s aid. The first time she opens up to him about her sexuality in full, he understands why she was so hesitant to tell him (the nerve of someone, to look her in the eye and say something so callous without a second thought as “so you’re just straight, right?” or “so you’re just confused” sets his blood ablaze)

– He’s not averse to making himself out to be more intimidating if it means his s/o will be more comfortable when out and about. He can’t start fights (the Shield to a Lucis Caelum, brawling in the streets and raising his hand against the people of Insomnia. The scandal would see him exiled), but that doesn’t stop him from glowering at once of her old acquaintances – the same woman she’d admitted had called her a myriad of insulting names – until they take their leave. He’s a Shield, a protector to the Crown and its people, and he’d gladly put himself on the line to ensure no one would ever belittle his love again

Ignis:

– Not one for physicality, he’s more the sort to be viewed a little sideways when a small gaggle of employees are all fired in quick succession. With a cutthroat way of conducting business, he understands the importance of clear communication. With a heart full of love for his s/o, he understands the importance of compassion. He will never stand for the slander some deem appropriate to heap on her name

– He’s heard a lot of insinuation about himself over his years working in the Citadel, how he’s a perfect fit for his job (too perfect, some of the ‘Guard like to say, you think he’s impotent?) with much of it being said well within his range of hearing. He knows how it stings to be faced with unwarranted cruelty and seeks to shelter his s/o from further harm

Noctis:

– He’s heard it all, seen it all, and is beyond done with the ignorance of the masses. He loves his s/o, her very existence helps him get through the day, and is dedicated to her fully. He can’t stand the knowledge that some people think that it’s their right to antagonize her and spit insults at her back for an aspect of herself she should be able to feel happy and confident about

– With great power comes great responsibility. It means biting his tongue in public and turning that anger at the media into love fer his s/o and her continued courage. He makes his love for her known in soft embraces and private smiles. He knows that she’s perfect the way she is

Prompto:

– As Noctis’s best friend, he’s used to hearing unsavory opinions of himself. They still hurt a little, but he’s grown used to them. What he won’t stand for, no matter the occasion, is when someone speaks badly of his s/o. He may not be as powerful as Noctis and Ignis, or built like a brick wall the same as Gladio but he’s an adult in his own right and can kick ass in his own way without excessive muscles or political power (and it’s in how he smiles a terrible grin, full of malice and ferocity he’d picked up over the years, daring them to say it again with him around)

– He knows full well his s/o can handle herself. She’s no pushover, not even in the least, and it’s her business if she wants him to step in and handle something that’s hers alone. He respects that, but it still angers him when someone thinks it fit to give her trouble for being so wonderful as to be herself. Being bisexual doesn’t make her any less of a perfect being, doesn’t make her greedy, or promiscuous. It’s what allows her to love him the same as he loves her, wholly and without restraint
