i always thought of a king sized bed as being a bit bigger than a queen, but now that i have one, i can tell you that a king sized bed is an absurdity. i can sprawl out, and my husband can sprawl out, and the cat can sprawl out, and none of us are touching. i reach out in the night, and find only pillows and plush walruses. i reach further and eventually find his elbow. he rolls over the comforters to try and find me. “i have crossed oceans of bed to be with you,” he says. there is a vast expanse of bed untouched, unmapped, unexplored. the cat is still trying to sleep on my face.
I’ll never understand how some people can be so downright rude to their followers. I love my followers with all my heart and words can’t describe how happy y’all have made me with all this support!!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕

DO YOU KNOW THAT KIND OF WRITER’S BLOCK WHERE YOU ALREADY HAVE A PLOT, YOU KNOW WHAT TO WRITE BUT YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE IT AND YOU JUST STARE AT THE COMPUTER SCREEN FOR HOURS UNTIL YOU FINALLY CLOSE THE DOCUMENT AND CURSE YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE
A message to all artists out there! By creating art, you are an artist. There’s no milestone you have to hit or skill level you need to be at. You can draw once every few years or finish writing a chapter a week. You can crochet goods only for your family or sell your music to hundreds. Nothing qualifies or disqualifies you, so you are most definitely an artist. 🎨✨
good job, guys, we’re killing the shitty pet food industry this time. it can’t POSSIBLY be that we just recognized Gravy Train or Kibbles and Bits for being piss poor food choices; no, we’re just treating our pets too nicely.
I’m talking with some friends over how some of the dream daddy fandom went down.
It took like a week before an artist got death threats over fanart and the devs had to step in and even the devs started getting harassed and death threats.
and before that, people harassed the devs over having to push back the release date so they could work on fixing a game-breaking bug.
and before that people harassed the devs over the “cult ending” that doesn’t even exist.
and then before that people spread rumors and told people to pirate the game because it was profiting off of LGBT people and developed by cishet white guys (Game Grumps) even though they didn’t do anything except promote the game and lend their voices.
and as a bonus, that one asshole that tried to scam people into making what was basically a rip off of dream daddy.
and within like, a month or two of the games release the fandom had died out. It’s sad because Dream Daddy from what I know is an actually good game. It’s just that the level of drama and identity politics within the fandom basically killed it. People want and literally talk about craving diversity and representation in media but when they get it, they just ajdlfakdafdfad fucking demolish and find everything that is wrong with it.

I think what I like the most about Detective Pikachu is that it feels like a movie made by Pokemon fans. This is exactly the kind of Pokemon movie I always wanted to see as a kid. And the fact that there are so many subtle references and easter eggs tells me that this was made by people who genuinely love the franchise.
Adult millennial protagonist wanted to be a pokemon trainer when he was a kid, but that was then, and this is now. Now he’s an adult, and this is a real world with bills to pay and dangers to avoid and without his parents to rely on. And you can’t just get distracted by every childish dream.
Pikachu, both the textual and metatextual representation of said childhood dreams, manifests himself in protagonist’s home, asking him to go on an adventure.
The setting and character design seeks to strike a balance. This isn’t a “gritty” reboot, where cynicism prevails and childhood dreams are crushed. But it also isn’t a glistening plasticine saturated and flat (literally two dimensional) cartoon world. There’s a more complex realization of the designs of that cartoon world, but no attempt to say those designs were bad or the ideas not sophisticated enough.
So, calling upon hope itself, Pikachu vies for the aid of a world-weary protagonist. Pikachu, who is himself chasing a silly impossible “childish” dream.
Ideally, together the two embark on an adventure to both solve their present dilemmas, but also to reconcile what they each represent and make it clear to the audience that you don’t have to choose. You don’t have to choose between pragmatism and idealism. You don’t have to abandon hope in order to pursue truth. Your childhood dreams and your adult realities are not as incompatible as you might have thought. There is nothing about being a grown-up that means you have to stop loving Pikachu.
This is my basic assumption, based on the trailer, for what the movie’s going for. Whether it works will be an incredible tonal and practical balancing act, but if it manages it I think it’ll be another Lego Movie style gem.
Weird/terrible/too-hyper-realistic renderings of pokemon aside, I do appreciate that the pokemon company seems to be realizing a pretty decent chunk of their core Pokemon demographic (those that grew up with it) is now in their 20′s-30′s and is targeting some of their material towards us. I think it’ll take a while to get used to the look but I’ll end up really enjoying the movie.
This movie looks so cute and you can tell by the trailer just how much love and dedication was put into this film. Look into any of the backgrounds and you will see tiny little details that add more to the world that they’re building. The people making this movie had to have been fans as a kid or there would be no way that much detail would be put in the film. I’m so excited for this!
After all these years I appreciate that Jigglypuff is still petty and down to fight a bitch and make em sleep. With the same mic and all. We stan an iconic diva.
You know what I think? Detective Pikachu is subtly aimed at the millennials who grew up on Pokemon. Not just because of nostalgia, either! Ted Goodman is a 22 year-old (an adult being a core protagonist in a Pokemon movie?!) who gave up on his childhood dreams of becoming a Pokemon champion, for whatever reason. It’s easy to connect this to the millennials who “fell out” of Pokemon over the years. But also think of all the realities of dreams being crushed for this age group once they reach adulthood. Ones that are deemed as being “childish”.
when I was a little kid I had a very vivid dream that a meteor crashed in my backyard and I went to check it out and an eevee crawled out and I was loosing my shit and then the president came to my house with a bunch of reporters and I had to do a press conference and make an official statement that pokemon were real now and I’m just saying watching that detective pikachu trailer….I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what the world in my dream would have evolved into had I not woken up lmao
I am! I haven’t played that game, but I couldn’t wait to see Hollywood’s attempt at “realistic” Pokemon. The little kid in me wanted to see that for a long time. If it goes well, I hope this opens the door for more live action Pokemon movies down the line.
