Due warning: SPOILERS ahead. If you don’t want them, don’t read on.
Throughout the Kingdom Hearts series, we have come across four different kinds of enemies, in timeline chronological order: the Unversed, the Heartless, the Nobodies, and the Dream Eaters. Each embodies a fragment of a real person, and the essay here today discusses the enemies as representations of the psyche, as envisioned by the Kingdom Hearts universe. It should be noted that since psychology is a complex thing, the representations discussed here are innately highly simplified.
The Unversed: Emotion
As Vanitas states in Birth by Sleep, the Unversed are “fledgling emotions”, born from his negativity. Vanitas was born from Ventus’ heart being split. Since Vanitas is but fragment of Ventus, the Unversed themselves are also parts of Ventus. Therefore, it can said that the Unversed may be born from all beings with whole hearts. Each Unversed has a different pair of eyes, smiling, angry, or crying, further establishing the Unversed are emotion personified. Since they are “Unversed”, those “not well-versed in their own existence”, it follows that emotion as an individual component is useless. Vanitas commands the Unversed, being an intelligent being, which implies that emotion has no inherent direction. Simply put, to feel is not enough, action or direction is required to fully realize it.
The Heartless: Intent or the “Id”
Unlike the Unversed, the Heartless are the darkness, rather than the raw emotion of a person who has been physically compromised. As noted throughout the series, the darkness is not inherently evil or malicious, which seems to be the case in the first Kingdom Hearts. But as the story continues, it is made apparent that the Heartless are mindless, much as the Unversed are. The Heartless on a desire to have a heart. This domination of being by desire is similar to the concept of the “id” in Freudian psychology. The “id” is the part of the personality that directs basic needs and wants. The basic component of a full person in the Kingdom Hearts universe is a heart, which explains the Heartless’ narrow-minded search for hearts. However, without the ego and superego to regulate the id, the Heartless cannot fully grasp having a heart. It is the darkness that shows people what they really want or need, but it is the ego and superego that keeps it in check. It is implied in the Ansem Reports of the first Kingdom Hearts that the Heartless have always existed, since people have always had darkness in their hearts. However, we know that the Emblem Heartless were initially manufactured in experiments, and that the Purebloods such as the Shadow and Neoshadow are byproducts of a natural process. Therefore, it can be said that the Emblem Heartless are twisted or modified versions of actual desire. The Purebloods, such as the Neoshadows, are relatively few, as Xehanort does not release them in Birth By Sleep, except to use them to test Ventus. The comparative rarity and lack of danger of Purebloods indicates the desire is rarely ever malicious or deadly. The Emblem Heartless, which are plentiful, with their armor, weapons, and improved powers over the Purebloods further show that they are desire acted upon in a most twisted or misguided manner.
The Nobodies: Logic or the “Ego”
If the Heartless are the id, then it follows that the Nobodies are the ego, which directs the id, to consider logical consequences of actions (whether physical, mental, or social), and the idea that other people have ids as well. Unlike any of the other enemies in the Kingdom Hearts universe, the Nobodies are intelligent and are driven by their will and ability to plan. There is further evidence that the Nobodies are the psyche’s logic and mental capacity. Nobodies can, with sufficient willpower, become a higher form of a Nobody, namely those that make up Organization XIII. These Nobodies are very intelligent, retaining their memories as people, and desiring a heart to complete them. They can even affect emotion in order to feign having a complete personality. However, their lack of “intent”, or rather an “id”, prevents them from realizing that their goal of completion implies more than restoring their hearts, as explained by Yen Sid. Both the Heartless and the Nobody of a person must be destroyed in order to restore a person to their original form. The higher Nobodies are arrogant and presume to be a higher existence than the Heartless, when their very existence is paradoxical in itself. Given that the Nobodies are the ego, and that the Heartless are the id, the heart is the super ego. This is because just as the Heartless do not have the ego or the superego to regulate them, the Nobodies do not have the id to realize what they need, nor the superego to show them morality. Nobodies are ruthless, particularly those in Organization XIII, not considering whether their actions are right or wrong. This is further supported by the fact that Axel and Roxas were some of the first members to show the “unquestionable signs of a burgeoning replacement [a new heart]”, as noted by Xemnas. Axel’s being was fully restored, whereas Roxas, despite having a new growing heart, had no id “darkness” to show him what he needed was to return to Sora, where his shared id and original superego (Sora’s heart) lay.
The Dream Eaters: Dreams, fears, and aspirations
The Dream Eaters are a more complicated matter. In Dream Drop Distance, Yen Sid explains that they are entities that wander the world of sleep, and they are in constant flux. The Dream Eaters, unlike the other enemies, have two forms: Nightmare and Spirit. Nightmares create problems and harm the world of sleep by creating more nightmares, which keeps the worlds they roam in sleep. The Spirits keep them at bay, and Sora and Riku help them to fully awaken the worlds of sleep. These Dream Eaters take myriad forms, from bats, to horses, to dinosaurs. Similarly, the dreams of people are also varied. Nightmares and dreams are continuous and can occur simultaneously. It could be said that, along with the Unversed, the Dream Eaters are a part of the superego: the conscience. The Unversed are the emotions of people, which are produced in response to various stimuli, and the Dream Eaters are people’s fears and dreams. People dream and have various emotions as a result. People hope and aspire, and that, too, evokes emotion. The heart, or the superego, incorporates emotion and dream in order to sort through one’s conscience, what is right and wrong, and to form one’s own morals.
Samus Aran amiibos can open the ticket barriers of Moscow Vyacheslav train station, without needing a ticket.
This is due to an oddly specific RFID in the amiibo that just syncs up correctly enough to the train station’s own reader. But what I like to say the real reason for this is
Samus don’t need no fucking authorisation so FUCK YOU ADAM
FUCK YOU AND YOUR DEAD MILITARY ASS BITCH I DON’T NEED NO AUTHORISATION
I’M FUCKING SAMUS
“Any objections, Putin?”
Can’t believe that Samus’ scan visor does unlock irl stuff.
how did someone even find this out. ‘fuck no ticket, let me in samus’
did they just like take all their amiibos to the train station and try them all on the scanners?
poor reader 😦 also I headcanon that Connor still has access to the internet, maybe not via cyberlife anymore but he’s clever so I have no doubt he’d figure something out. so while he may not automatically know what is troubling reader, he’ll have little problem looking up what to do once he knows what is wrong with them. so yay~ 🙂 ===
-He’s quite worried initially. His scans show that you were currently suffering from fatigue, your hormone levels were irregular, you were experiencing a worrying level of pain, and in fact bleeding if his olfactory sensors were correct.
-And if the way you just growled at Detective Reed were any indication then you were more than a little irritable. Though he’s found that pain tends to make even the most level headed humans angry and aggressive, so he doesn’t blame you.
-He’ll carefully ask you if you need help getting to a hospital. Your confusion makes him more confused. And after he explains that his sensors showed him you were in pain and bleeding you actually smile and sigh while telling him you didn’t need a doctor. You were only on your period.
-Barely a second later and he was looking up periods via his internet connection. Ah, menstrual cycle! A monthly change that occurs to humans with a uterus/ovaries that makes pregnancy possible. Of course.
– “Do you require anything for comfort? Pain relief medication, some tea, perhaps some chocolate? My findings tell me that chocolate and other such sweet foods help with the higher energy expenditure that occurs during the cycle. My scan shows that your expenditure is up by 8.5%. You will need to conserve your energy.”
-He’s just overall very caring of your situation, even if you try to shyly wave him off by saying you were used to it. This happens to you 12 times a year after all. No cramps were going to keep you from going about your day.
– “Being accustomed to pain doesn’t negate that the pain is occurring and effecting your health. Seeking to soothe your physical suffering would benefit you greatly.”
-With how almost eager he is to get you anything you’d need to be more relaxed you could say that any passerby might have an easy time mistaking him for a domestic helper android and not a high tech detective one. But you appreciate his help so much~<3
Summary: Connor teaches the reader what it means to be an android, whilst they teach him what it means to be human.

Connor looked at Hank,
confusion deep set into his face. Your words and your actions had not matched
up at all, and although Conner was no stranger to lying, he couldn’t fathom why
you would feel the need to lie to him or the lieutenant. Certainly not where
injury was concerned
“Lieutenant, something was
amiss with (Y/N)”
“No shit, use your detective
skills to work that out?” Hank looked back, before rubbing his hand over his
eyes. “Jesus Christ. I wonder what that was about?”
“I don’t know” came Connors
reply, his LED starting to return to a flashing blue, “Perhaps they were in
shock? I detected a spike in heart rate, and I’ve noticed humans can react
unpredictably to pain”. He was trying not to remember the way you had pulled away
from him, as if afraid he would hurt you further. Trying to ignore the strange
sensation that that had left him with. “Still they left in such a hurry, they
forgot to take their equipment with them” he said, nodding towards your
forgotten bag of forensic tools, including your camera. “Perhaps we should try
and catch them to return them”.
Hank gave Connor a long look,
before narrowing his eyes. “I’ll do it” he said at last. “Judging by the way
they pulled away from you, I’d say they’re not too fond of your company right
now”. He hadn’t meant it harshly, but Connor just nodded sadly, trying to
understand why you had reacted the
way you had, but understanding completely the lieutenants logic.
Once the Lieutenant had left,
he stood for a moment simply staring at the roof door, trying to sort through
the thoughts that were working through his processor. His mission, he had to focus on his mission. He looked back towards
the deviant, partially hidden behind the vent you had been kneeling behind. He
moved towards it, to examine it for any clues about the location of the other
deviants, when something stopped him. He looked at the floor where you had been
hiding and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He moved closer and bent down,
kneeling besides a tiny drop of blue that glistened on the fresh white snow.
Instinctively he touched it and brought it to his mouth for analysis. A small
box appeared in front of his vision.
Blue Blood
Model: Unknown.
Serial Number: Unknown
He looked back to the door
through which you made your hasty exit, and suddenly the pieces fell into
place.
–
You used the elevator ride to
compose yourself. Taking deep breaths and pushing down all the questions that
were swirling around in endless circles in your brain. Or was that processor?
You shook your head in an attempt to dislodge that thought. In an effort to
force all your thoughts away, you started focusing on your favourite song,
humming along quietly.
By the time the elevator doors
had opened at the bottom of the tower, you had managed to build up a false
sense of calm. You let your face fall blank as you moved quickly through the
reception area towards the glass doors of the entrance. Your hand was clasped
tighter than ever over the bullet wound that had caused all this.
Thankfully no-one tried to
stop you and you made it out into the chilly street without interruption. You
went straight to your car and stopped. You would need a hand to unlock it.
Swallowing the fear that was once again building, you looked around to be sure
no-one was watching, and very quickly let go of your arm to reach into your
trouser pocket, pulling out your car keys. You fumbled a little in your rush,
but managed to unlock the car, open the driver’s door and slide in, slamming
the door shut behind you, thankful for the blacked out windows. Your hand shook
as you tried to slide the keys into the ignition and eventually you gave up and
threw them to the passenger side floor in frustration.
You couldn’t hold it in
anymore. You lent onto the steering wheel as painful sobs wracked your body. What was happening? You couldn’t be an android, you just couldn’t. You would have known.
Wouldn’t you?
You must have bled before
right? You were sure you had memories of skimming your knees as a child, of red
blood oozing from the grazes.
A child.
You had been a child, you had to have been, and androids didn’t age. But
suddenly you realised that you’d never really thought in detail about your
past, and as you tried now your mind seemed foggy, like there was something
there but it didn’t quite fit. Images
that were just a little too perfect.
Were your memories fake? Just part of a program to make you think you were
alive?
That was ridiculous. Why on
earth would anyone go to that much trouble? It wouldn’t have been easy at all
to make an android think they were human. And it wouldn’t serve a function, and
that was the point of androids, wasn’t it, they had a purpose.
That was it then. You were
going crazy. Maybe the stress of the situation in the kitchen had driven you to
the edge. You almost laughed out loud as you sat up, your tears slowing and
giving you a chance to breath. It was just temporary insanity, you were clearly
just hallucinating.
The sound of the passenger
side door opening caused you to jump and let out a little squeak of surprise.
Hank was climbing into the car, not bothering to ask you if he could. You just
stared, caught completely off guard.
“You forgot this” He threw your bag onto the
back seat, not un-gently, and turned to face you fully.
“Now what the hell was all
that about?” his own eyes softened as he saw that you’d been crying. You
thought about bringing your hand back to your arm, of telling him you were
fine, just a little shaken and that he should leave you alone. But something
stopped you.
If you really were going
crazy, he would be able to tell you. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you
turned to face him, holding your hand palm side up, to show him the thirium
stained there and letting him see the bullet wound, circled in blue, on your
arm.
“Please tell me I’m going crazy” you whispered, voice catching half
way though. He stared at you for a moment as if processing what he was seeing. Then
suddenly –
“You’re a fucking Android?!”
There was shock in his voice, of course there was, and confusion, but also
something you couldn’t quite place. “How is that even possible? How could you
not tell me!” Betrayal. That was it.
He sounded betrayed. But at least now there were no doubts. The blue blood was
real.
You shook your head,
helplessly, tears building again and threatening to pull you back down into
uncontrollable sobbing. “I don’t know… I didn’t even…” You couldn’t even think
of what to say to him, had you been capable of forcing a full sentence out through
the tightness in your throat. Swallowing again, you managed to force yourself
to look him in the eye,
“I thought I was human Hank”. A broken whisper. That was it. You lost your
calm again, everything you’d been feeling, everything you’d been thinking, came
rushing out in a painful flood of tears. Hank didn’t say anything. He was
having trouble understanding what you had just said. The same questions you had
asked yourself now filling his own mind. How was this possible?
One thing he did know, was
that you were hurting, and confused, and sad. And that was something he could help you with. Ignoring
everything else, he leant across the gear shift and pulled you into a tight
hug, letting you rest your head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around your
shaking shoulders. “I don’t know what the hell is going on, but we’re gonna
figure this out, (Y/N). I promise”.
Hello! I haven’t wrote anything for a while. If you’re staying up late for whatever reason or you’re a night owl, hi my dear friend let’s have another cup of coffee please go to sleep now. Health is priority!!
[ Connor tries to make you sleep, fluff ]
Connor is always frustrated when he sees you staying up late.
“Y/N, why don’t you sleep?”
“Sleep is for the weak, Connor!”
That doesn’t make sense to him at all.
Mission: Get Y/N to sleep
The common approach: spills your coffee, lifts you up, carries you to bed while talking about the importance of adequate sleep in terms of physical health, brain function, mental state, work productivity and blah blah blah (which can make you feel sleepy in a way)
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
Remember, he can always detect your sleepiness. If it’s freaking 4am and you’re still not sleepy, he will scan you from the bottom to the top and give you a full analysis.
Since sleep or rest is not necessary to androids, he doesn’t really know how sleep deprivation or insomnia feels like. However, he does a large amount of research for you. He knows everything, the symptoms, consequences, and your physical condition.
Aromatherapy candles, sleep mask, your favourite stuff toy, soft pillows and sheets… He prepares everything that may help you sleep in your bedroom. If he’s not the most caring boyfriend, I don’t know who is.
He considers cuddling with you in bed would be the best approach rather than giving you sleeping pills. (He likes to feel your warmth and stay close to you anyway)
By the way, he wears pajamas, the one you gave him.
Goodnight kiss.
This is extremely short because I’m going to sleep. Thanks for reading! I might add more to it (when I’m not sleepy). Also thanks for 800+ followers!!! I love you all ;-; (This is too much)

Chuuya’s morals and ethical stance regarding his position in the Port Mafia are
a major part of his character as a whole. I’ve already wanked about loyalty
being one of Chuuya’s main foundations that create his personality and views,
but his morals are less stable and can change with the situation.
Chuuya thinks with instinct rather than full-blown tactility (Dazai) or
impulsivity (Akutagawa). Chuuya’s emotions don’t necessarily cloud his
judgement, but rather than planning out methods of attack (he’s been in the PM
long enough to have the know-how) he uses his perceptiveness and instincts to
make moves during missions. For the most part his loyalty to Mori and the Port
Mafia guide him down the path that Mori intended.
∟ Getting the tracker placed on Fukuzawa before
the ADA retreated to their underground hide out. He could have easily follow
Fukuzawa or something a bit more risky (Mori’s way created the least probable
way of them getting caught) but he went along with Mori’s plans because that’s
his job.
One thing people seem to miss about Chuuya is that he values human life, but in his own way. His comrades are
important to him, his co-workers, and the people of the city who have done
nothing to warrant death. Unless they happen to cross the Port Mafia then Chuuya
merely shrugs and does what he needs to do because they sealed their own fate.
Why fuck with the Port Mafia if you don’t want to die? They have a heavy enough
reputation for it to be fair warning to anyone, so Chuuya sees no problem snuffing
out people or organizations that cross them on their own accord.
There is an entire Port Mafia CD that proves not once but twice on separate occasions
that Chuuya cares for the people he works for. This ties into his blind loyalty
to the Port Mafia. They are all he’s ever had, and they are his family. He
openly admits to inviting Akutagawa out for dinner because he’s been worried
about it, and then he goes on to invite Kajii and Tachihara as well. Then there’s
the bathhouse part where Chuuya literally washes Akutagawa’s back and is
worried for him outloud in front of the rest of the mafia members. Chuuya has
no issue showing his emotions (outside of his temper which the fandom tends to
focus on), and is comfortable letting others know he cares for them. He values
their lives, and he values his own.
However, Chuuya does not completely ignore his own thoughts regarding missions.
Going back to the situations with Q when Dazai and he went off to rescue him—Mori
initially ordered Chuuya to bring Q back alive. When Dazai mentions killing him
instead Chuuya tells him to do it. This would be defying direct orders and
Chuuya doesn’t hesitate. Now this many seem to contrast the previous statement
of Chuuya valuing human life, but Chuuya doesn’t want Q dead because he doesn’t
care it’s because he is angry. He mentions how he keeps seeing his men come
back in body bags every time he looks at his face.
Some can take this as an example of Chuuya’s temper overriding his years of
training and experience, but this mindset of his is similar to Dazai’s. Q is a
liability. If he is captured again at any point the entire situation could happen again and again, especially since the Guild made Q’s ability public knowledge. Dazai didn’t
kill Q but he locked him up when he was in control because of the exact same
reason. Dazai merely kept him alive because he is a devastating weapon, and
Chuuya is completely aware of it. For Chuuya one life saves a hundred, or a
thousand, or the entire city. Chuuya sees the benefit of taking a life to
benefit the community; and whether he realizes it or not this is a leader’s way
of thinking. He takes emotion out of the equation and looks at the destruction
Q has caused simply by being caught.
Is it necessarily a good way to think?
It depends on an individual basis; it’s not Q’s fault that he’s been weaponized
by the Port Mafia—he’s a child; but at the same time he is a weapon of mass
destruction that is entirely dangerous. Chuuya not being able to see that in
all technicality it is the Port Mafia’s fault for Q being so destructive rather
than taught to correctly hone and control his ability is where his loyalty can
be a bit blinding.
There is a generalization that Chuuya is just angry and loyal to the Port
Mafia, while they aren’t entirely false they are not his entire personality—just
a fragment. He will always do what is best for the Port Mafia, and if it goes
against what Mori believes then so be it, how he handles that situation is up
for debate. He most likely would take whatever punishment was given considering
after Akutagawa blew up Moby Dick with Atsushi he asked Mori what punishment
Akutagawa should receive for defying orders. Chuuya is strong enough to
maintain his own thoughts and opinions when it comes to Port Mafia business—it’s
why he was chosen to run the Port Mafia when Mori was sick, and why he became
an executive. He may not think tactically like Mori or Dazai, but he is
perceptive and driven.
Ethically and morally—the Port Mafia’s
benefit will always come first to Chuuya. They are his family, his blood,
and his entire life. But, that doesn’t mean it washes away his separate thoughts
and opinions on what he’s doing. He has enough power to make decisions that
trickle down, and Mori tends to let him handle things the way he sees fit.
This wasn’t exactly a headcanon post but I hope this is the kind of response
you were looking for ❤
