@itshigh-boop was awesome enough to agree to my idea of writing these answers for WidowHanzo. It’s High….time I reciprocated and wrote my take on McSombra.
Just a note – even though they aren’t normally part of this blog, I totally ship them! *boop!*
Who said “I love you” first
McCree. Seems like the ship-verse tends to agree that Jesse would be more open and willing to be vulnerable with his feelings that Sombra, at least at first.
He tried to hold off, to not make Sombra feel pressured to declare anything herself. But then one day, as they are sharing a quiet moment, he can’t hold back anymore. He tells her, rushing to add that she doesn’t have to say anything – at all. He just wanted her to know. Sombra looks genuinely moved, but doesn’t say anything. McCree starts to panic, thinking that he failed and she’s going to feel the pressure to respond. She kisses him slowly, then says,
“My name…is Olivia.”
And he understands. The gift of her real name is their own version of a promise ring. When she’s ready, she’ll use the words. But he knows whats in her heart.
Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background
McCree again, assuming it was safe for him to have evidence like that of their relationship. I would think Sombra wouldn’t carry a regular phone, but would have a couple of pictures of him readily available in her files to pull up when she needs to see his face.
Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror
Sombra. She turns it into some joke about it being a very “analog” way to communicate. But she does it because she knows she’s not as good at expressing herself, and she wants to make sure Jesse knows how much he’s loved.
Who buys the other cheesy gifts
McCree first. Sombra may seem to take it lightly, but every little gift matters to her. Greatly. Eventually, she starts reciprocating, surprised at how happy it makes him. Proud, even.
Who initiated the first kiss
It was a joint effort. McCree was clearly moving in, but hesistant. He didn’t want to send the pretty hacker translocating out of sight. Sombra can clearly see the struggle, and teases him for it. It’s her way of giving him the green light to go ahead and kiss her.
Who kisses the other awake in the morning
McCree. In a playful, goofy way because he’s just so happy to have her there with him.
Who starts tickle fights
Sombra. It’s a lighthearted way to initiate contact, that always ends with the affection she wanted in the first place.
Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower
Sombra. Once she feels secure enough in their physical relationship. She loves the look of surprise on his face whenever she asks.
Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch
Most likely McCree, who will bring Sombra some takeout while she’s in the middle of a marathon work session.
Who was nervous and shy on the first date
Jesse. Trying so hard to be the perfect gentleman and impress her. His less-than-smooth moves don’t do the trick, but the fact that he obviously cares a great deal about their budding relationship does.
Who kills/takes out the spiders
Totally McCree. Sombra shouts for him, wherever he is in the house, telling him to get it away from her. They tend to have the same conversation each time. Sombra asks why he doesn’t just kill the thing. Jesse says it means no harm. Then he most likely starts talking to the spider, just to tease her further. Sombra rolls her eyes. Jesse makes a Widowmaker joke. Sombra shakes her head and sighs, turning back to her work.
Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk
McCree. Sombra shushes him while trying to suppress her own goofy grin.
