Reudala is v cute.
Reuben is terribly unsure with anything emotional. It’s partly why they take some time to actually get together. However, he walks away from their first conversation already dedicated to Magdala. He has no idea how or why. All he knows is that he wants to listen to her voice and look into her eyes and watch the way her lips move. Not that he tells a soul this.
Magdala at first has no idea that Reuben is sweet on her, as his love language is very subtle. It starts with him showing her around Deadlock Gorge, just the two of them. Then, he’s helping her step onto the ruined tracks that never quite got rebuilt with a steady hand.
Sitting in silence, watching the sun set beyond the red dirt is, to Reuben, quality time spent well with Magdala. His time and services is all that he gives her, and she doesn’t notice until much later what it truly meant.
She will take off his hat and put it on her head so she can run her fingers through his white hair. It’s funny, as she thought white hair made people look old. On Reuben, he looks like the hero of a fantasy story that she hasn’t read yet. His red eyes are especially beautiful to her. She loves to kiss his eyelids.
Reuben gives her the nickname magnolia.
Magdala is the only person, aside from Ashe and B.O.B., who can touch his hat.
