Calling ALL creators in the Kingdom Hearts fandom! Yes, I’m talking to you, artists, graphic editors, cosplayers, and writers! My dear friend @novallion and I are excited to announce that, in anticipation of KH3′s release in January, we’re kicking off THE TIES THAT BIND: A KINGDOM HEARTS FANZINE!
What’s that? Well, it’s going to be a collaborative zine that focuses on one of Kingdom Hearts’s central themes: friendship! It’s going to be PDF only, and completely free of charge. Artists, editors, and writers of ALL skill-levels are encouraged to participate, and ALL eligible entries that abide by the submission guidelines will be accepted and included in the zine! I hope that people across the fandom will join us in a celebration not only of the game series we all love so much, but of each other. There’s so much passion and talent in this fandom, and I’m so excited to collect it all together and share it with the world! ❤
We want to accept the hard work of EVERYONE who submits to us, so please make sure to follow the guidelines below:
FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS
Focus on as many characters as you like! Heroes and villains are both fair game. 🙂
All entries should be SFW, please! If something wouldn’t happen in one of the games, please don’t include it in your piece, no matter what form.
Please, no romantic content, even if it’s fluff! This project seeks to focus on the friendships between the characters in the series. 🙂
Only one submission per person, please!

ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE DUE by 11:59 EST ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 18! This gives everyone about two months to create their pieces for the zine. :> (The sooner you turn your work into us, the better, though!)
FOR ARTISTS
Please follow the general submission guidelines above!
ALL artwork must be on a 6 x 4 inch canvas at 300 dpi! No bigger. No smaller. For formatting purposes, please make sure your canvas is this size.
PNG files are preferred.
Pieces can be in B&W or color!
Traditional art will gladly be accepted, but please scan it cleanly!
FOR WRITERS
Please follow the general submission guidelines above!
ALL WRITING must not exceed 1.5k words!
FOR GRAPHIC EDITORS
Please follow the general submission guidelines above!
As with the artwork, all graphics must be on a 6 x 4 inch canvas at 300 dpi.
These will obviously need to be still images. PNG files are preferred.
(I’ll admit to being a little clueless when it comes to graphic editing, but I’ve seen some truly amazing work from this fandom with still graphics and gifs, and I want to offer all of the editors out there a chance to participate in this project. Please be patient with me! Hahaha!)
FOR COSPLAYERS

All photos must be 6 x 4 inches in high resolution.
The goal is to have this PDF ready to go right before Kingdom Hearts III launches in Japan on January 23 (and before a lot of us probably go radio silent on social media to avoid spoilers)!
