he’d hold you close to his chest, the smell of him would infiltrate your nose. you would sit in his lap, one of his hands around your back and the other over your legs. you could feel him rocking you backwards and forwards. your eyes fluttered shut as the low and soft vibrations from his chest were enough to put you to sleep. his face was buried in your hair as you curled up closer into him. you traced loose shapes into his right shoulder as your head rested on his left. you could melt in that moment because of how safe you felt. he’d smile to himself as you sat there, placing a soft kiss on your temple. you sat like that for a while, he continued to sing to you until you fell asleep in his arms. he couldn’t blame you – you were already emotionally exhausted and the tear stained patch on his shoulder was enough for him to tell just how tired you were.
