The Chocobros x Reader: Monthly Troubles
I feel like this request is not really something I would think of myself, I suppose mostly because I had never thought about what it would be like to have someone else take care of me during that particular time period, but – I never back down from a challenge! My only request is that you forgive me for taking a bit longer with these than I thought I would. uvu I hope you enjoy them!

Gladiolus Amicitia
- He’s ridiculously attentive, but at the same time, cautious of your state of being. The shield has another lady in his life and he has learned to prepare for the uphill battle that is your time of the month, as he has his sister’s.
- Gladio is all about bringing you ice cream and chocolate – stereotypical things he believes ravenous, irritable – lovely – creatures such as yourself need at such a time. Frazzled as he is when you are at your most delicate, he tends to forget that each person is different and deals with their menstrual cycles in just that way.
- Until he grew into his late twenties, he was full of shame when it came to buying items you needed for your time of the month; luckily, he had a willing minion – er, sister – to do it for him.
- When you go through mood swings, he always has to go out for a bit because he has a temper himself and he wouldn’t be able to stand it if he ever yells at you, even if you yell at him first.
- Despite the fact that he’s not exactly the best with getting everything you actually need, he is a comforting presence and does his best to understand what you are going through each and every time.
- Well equipped with blankets and pillows, if none of his efforts truly work, he goes for the default: cuddling.
Prompto Argentum
- He’s about as depressed or irritable as you are during this time – and it’s simply because he soaks in your emotions like a sponge, but luckily, he is the type to put you before anyone else and reel in his mess of emotions.
- If you are in pain and start crying, he’s immediately grabbing your hand (because he’s scared that the rest of you is too sensitive) and pats it, telling you about this really cute chocobo he saw on Petsomnia Network’s TOO KWOOT.
- The first time you explained to him what exactly was going on with you medically, he got a little teary-eyed and asked why you were killing his babies.
- Prompto literally solves every cut and scrape with medicine, and since you are technically wounded on the inside, he brings home a huge bag of over the counter drugs and bottles of potions.
- None of the bottles are Midol.
- He does his best to make you all types of warm teas and soups from Ignis’ Get Kwehl Recipe Book to soothe your muscles and help you relax; he’s actually rather good at it.
- If you get irritated with him at any time, he gets a little pouty and runs over to Noctis’ apartment to whine about it.
Ignis Scientia
- He’s somehow a literal professional at dealing with your time of the month, immediately prescribing you bedrest, foot elevation via several soft pillows, the proper medication, and your favorite MooglePlex television program.
- Ignis does not fuck around with that heating pad; it is soothing, it is pain-relieving, it is the ancient non-electric that he’s had in his medical kit since he was a child and he has to come in to replace the water every two to three hours. And he’s downright happy to do it.
- When you complain about your body, he already has twenty-three reasons as to why it happens and forty-two solutions, never failing to mention that it is a natural ailment that you will get over in simply a week.
- The only thing that sets off his nerves is your mood swings, especially your angry bouts; if he steps into a room and the first thing you do is begin to have a little tantrum, he lifts an index, exits the room, and returns with a half-downed can of Ebony.
- It helps.
- When he is away, he sets reminders on your phone for you to drink water. These reminders set off once an hour; it is very distracti- thoughtful.
- Ignis single-handedly buys all of the items you need for your cycle as easily as he buys his morning coffee.
- Despite the fact that Ignis has a difficult time empathizing with you, you are always reminded that he does his best to make the week as easy as possible for you.
Noctis Lucis Caelum
- He goes M.I.A. for the first day, at least; he is absolutely fucking terrified during your time of the month. It is already difficult dealing with feelings, but trying to understand that you were bleeding from places no one should ever bleed from? Uh.
- Plus, Prompto told him that those that deal with a menstrual cycle can be either very scary or very depressed and Noctis isn’t sure of what to do in either situation.
- He does, however, use the online Moogle search engine to find out what he can do to help and uses all the sources he has (Cor) to make sure you have what you need.
- That’s right, Cor buys your pads.
- But all the awkwardness aside, Noctis cares about you and he makes sure that when you’re together, you both do what you love – whether it’s watching movies or playing games, or eating copious amounts of chocolate on a Tuesday night.
- He’s great at shoulder rubs and spoils you with them, especially during this time, and he takes a minute to apologize for not manning up a little more when it comes to your needs; he’s rubbing your shoulders when he says this, of course, eye contact during apologies makes him nervous.
- At night, when you’re lying down and have major cramps, he’ll spoon up behind you and rub your tummy.
