A clap of thunder made you jerk awake. Your heart pulsed, but not terribly so. You slept pretty sound in between two men who kicked ass as their day job.
It took a few moments to place the sound of the storm and every time you tried to fall back asleep, the rain picked up a terrible pace or thunder boomed. You huffed and rolled around quietly as possible, trying not to wake up the men you were in between.
To your surprise, it seemed Ignis was already awake.
“Nothing to be afraid of, darling,” he whispered, turning and placing a kiss on your forehead. “The storm should pass in an hour or so.”
“Not that,” you mumbled. “Just can’t sleep.”
Ignis hummed and adjusted, bringing you to his naked chest and gently began to stroke your hair. Your eyes closed on their own and you couldn’t help but feel relaxed against his frame. Ignis’s hand began to still just as you felt yourself falling asleep –Â
Thunder roared, shaking the windowpanes as Ignis jerked and you cried out, both your hearts palpitating as you clung to each other in your second of fear. After a few heartbeats, Ignis loosened his grip from you but did not pull away.
Without a word Gladio rose and kicked off his covers. Yawning and scratching his chest, he motioned you over to his spot and took yours in the middle, tucking you and Ignis in each arm and pulling the two of you to his chest. He kissed the tops of your heads as you snuggled him, you and Ignis holding hands on his abdomen.
“Better?” Gladio huffed after a few minutes of silence, trying to sound annoyed and failing. He waited a moment, then asked again. “Are you two going to let me sleep now?”
He opened his eyes to see both his boyfriend and girlfriend sleeping soundly against him. It was him that couldn’t sleep, staying awake to watch the two people he loved more than anything safe in his arms.Â
