Ribbon’s Ko-fi Rewards

McSombra. 500 word drabble. Olympics AU.

The fact that the field training center is right beside the horse corrals should have been wonderful, but it is quickly proving otherwise. The horse trailer is much to cornered, and the driver can hardly find a way to slip into the entrance of the parking lot. McCree grows tired of watching and simply leads his horse out on a rope into the training center. There’s no doubt he’ll hear this from his manager, but his horse is far too hot in this heat. The fastest way to the corrals is through the training center.

By the looks some of the athletes give him while he makes his way onto the grass, he figures they’ve never had seen a horse before. He hides his grin a few times when someone stumbles because they were watching the horse instead of where they were going.

Once halfway through and working their way around field equipment, McCree glances across the grass. One of the many set ups included a large padded area just behind a bar stretched out. It appears much to high, but in the moment he takes notice, a woman is running straight towards at an angle.

Unconsciously, he stops to witness what painful accident is about to occur, but the woman doesn’t slow. She continues, before suddenly lifting her legs, one by one, and twisting in the air. His hat lifts in the sun as she seamlessly slips over the bar, and lands on the padding with a quiet sound.

The ponytail of dark hair swinging from the back of her head is near shining in the sunlight. As she gets off the pad. While slipping under under the bar back onto solid land, a coach comes to speak with her. She appears to be listening, but the woman very subtly shifts her gaze onto McCree. So subtly, that he blinks once before he remembers his manners.

He stays still, clutching the horse’s rope like a lifeline. He feels like he’s awaiting a trial. Suddenly, the woman begins sauntering over to where he dumbly stands. All he can identify is the little Mexico flag on her tank top before she’s stopping right in front of him.

“I would remark on your painfully obvious staring, but at the moment, I’m a little more interested in your horse.” Her voice comes smoothly in a spanish accent, although something mischievous plays in her strange, purple-blue eyes.

McCree takes off his hat, “My apologies, Miss. I promise my mama raised me better than that but I’ve never seen anyone jump that high without looking like they’re about to break something.”

Her eyebrow arches, amused as he steps aside to present his horse.

“You can pet him if he’d like,” he offers. “If you really want to get on his good side, you should bring him a carrot.”

All too intrigued by this, the woman steps forward, and holds her hand out. The horses sniffs her hand, no doubt tickling her with his fuzzy lips. Slowly, she moves on to running her hand along his neck, a little mesmerized.

“What’s his name?”

“Huckleberry.”

The woman gives him a strange look, but he only keeps grinning. Then, someone shouts at her, which she annoying looks back to.

“Well then, Huckleberry,” she turns to the horse, but lets a side eye fall upon McCree, “I hope to get to see more of you around here.”

She steps away. Just as McCree fumbles with his tongue, the woman winks. A playful, quick twickle of her beautiful eyes leaves him breathless as she turns, and walks away.
