There’s also food items that can’t be used in battle. These are much more traditional RPG fare. 

Some items, like the Wild Strawberry, are used to increase a character’s “class level”, which increases how many cards you can use in battle. Each character has a unique set of class totems which reflect back on their personality. I guess.
