How we have some demon hanzo with pregnant s/o fluff for a change?? ;; All this angst got me tearing up

sethrine-imagines:

I’m feeling this sudden switch to fluff!

——

It was safer in the forest, under his protection. There, he could provide you with everything you would ever require without the hassle of outsiders imposing and prying. It was definitely a change from being in the center of the village, but you were happy to have so much space. There was so much to do to keep you busy, and it made life fulfilling in a way you hadn’t felt before.

After all, you had a little one to prepare for, and you wanted to be as ready as any first-time parent could be.

You found yourself in the garden that afternoon, kneeling in the dirt and prying errant weeds from around the fruits and vegetables that you had planted for the season. The berries were almost perfectly ripe and ready to be plucked from their bushes and vines; they were still on the small side, but they were sweet and would make excellent preserves to store and sell on your next trip into the village.

Was it strange to be so excited over produce?

“You are in no condition to do such labor.”

Turning, you see a pair of white eyes gazing at you from the shadows of the surrounding trees, narrowed, but not angry. You gave a smile to the demon.

“It’s hardly much labor. Besides, if I can still bend, then I can still work.”

For being five months pregnant, you weren’t showing all that much. Your stomach had only distended a couple inches with the growth of the life within, and while it was enough to notice while bare or in tighter clothing, your normal, looser shirts hid your pregnancy rather well.

“Stubborn woman,” was growled out, though there was no malice to the words. He knew you couldn’t keep your hands still, understood that you enjoyed working just as much as he enjoyed doting on you in his own special way. You would continue to do what you could while you were able, and he knew this.

It didn’t stop him from trying to take over any tasks he deemed too laborious, however, but for the most part, he left you to your own devices.

You were in the process of uprooting a particularly hardy weed, one that must have been previously missed and thrived for much longer than it should have, when a large hand enveloped yours, claws carefully skimming over your knuckles in the process.

“Hanzo….”

“Take a break, dear one. You have been out here for hours.”

“Have I?” you questioned, looking up at the sky. It was still rather bright out, but the sun was definitely making its trek further toward the horizon. You had been busy much longer than you thought.

“Oh! I haven’t even started dinner yet!”

“There is no need. I have prepared an adequate meal as you worked.”

You looked to the demon, fondness filling your gaze.

“Hanzo, you didn’t have to do that.”

“What else am I to do for such a stubborn woman who does all? It is the least I can accomplish when you are busy with everything else. Now come, before it cools.”

With an admiring smile, you allow Hanzo to help you to your feet, stating up at him as he looks down at you. He may not have been the best at communicating through his wordsnn at least as far as affection went, but what he lacked in that department, he made up in actions.

His large hands strayed to your stomach, palms smoothing over the tiny bump of your belly. There was an errant kick that had the demon removing his hands immediately, one that neither of you had been expecting. You laughed and reached for his wrists, placing his hands back where they had been.

“It’s alright. See? They’re just trying to get comfortable. Probably wasn’t too happy about me being in the dirt for so long.”

“A sentiment the little one and I agree on,” he murmured, eyes wide as he watched the slow movement of his hands over your belly. There wasn’t another kick, but Hanzo seemed enthralled, regardless.

“Angela will be by tomorrow to check my progress,” you said, pressing your own hands against the back of his. “If the conditions are right, we might know the gender.”

“It does not matter, only that the babe is well…and that you are well.”

Hanzo looked to you, and in his eyes you could see the hint of worry that always lied beyond the adoration he held for you. It was almost comical to think that this being held any sort of worry over you, but you understood. It was the same feeling you had anytime he disappeared for too long. He always came back to you, but that didn’t stop you from worrying.

With a gentle smile, you plied one of his hands from your stomach and brought it to your lips, kissing over the backs of his fingers.

“I am well,” you murmured, watching as the worry disappeared from his gaze, at least for the moment. He returned your motions, dipping his head down and lifting your hands closer to his lips, careful of the sharp tusks that protruded from his lips as he kissed over your delicate skin.

“Then all is good.”
