Ever since playing the quest for a second time, it’s reignited a headcanon idea I had.
> Two millenniums ago there was a black chocobo that accompanied Ardyn on his journey.
> The chocobo was a friend to him that was ever so dear. It would even participate in battles along side Ardyn, she was a feisty little thing.
> When ever Ardyn was saddened or plagued with night horrors (the poor man); there she was comforting him by nuzzling into him as a soft ‘kweh’ left her.
> Both Ardyn and his chocobo friend were a source of mischief.
> As Ardyn’s healer duties would wear him out and weaken him, she would take Ardyn up on her back and carefully trot away to take him to either a camp site or a place where he could rest.
> When sleeping, she would lay in a comfortable position and Ardyn would rest on her.
> When that tragic day came and the people, his brother and the crystal turned against Ardyn she did her best to protect him from those that tried to harm him. A spear ended up impaling her however as a pained ‘Kweh’ left her and she collapsed in front of him in a pool of blood. This left Ardyn filled with heartbreak and anger.
> A millennium later, Ardyn makes a visit to Wiz’s chocobo farm and there is the black chocobo chick that Ardyn is currently standing in front of. (The rescue of her is the only thing Ardyn is thankful to the chocobros for.)
> He feeds her the finest of chocobo feed as she releases a serious of cute happy ‘kweh’s’ in appreciation.
> A somber yet genuine smile graces the man’s lips as his golden eyes look at her with warmth. “It’s nice to see you again, dear old girl.”
