It wasn’t meant to be this difficult. Ignis had it all planned out in his head before he had arrived at your doorstep to confess. He was sure to put the advice of his brothers out of his mind because, if he had to be completely honest, they weren’t exactly helping.
“You’re wearing that? Could you be anymore square, Specs?” “Make sure you’re confident, but not too cocky. A little ego is good, too much is bad.” “Smile! Remember to smile, but maybe also play it cool cause people like that right? But smiling is also important.”
Ignis supposed that’s why he was the strategist.
Still, all the planning he had done went up in smoke as soon as you answered the door. One look at your expression and the speech that he had meticulously practice disappeared. ‘These are for you, my dear. I wanted to express my admiration for you and if you were amiable to the idea, perhaps we could have dinner together later in the week.’
They weren’t difficult words by any stretch, but all of it put together and with you standing before him, “I—my apologies—for disturbing you.” Ignis flushed and moved to adjust his glasses, but remembered he was holding a bouquet of flowers for you. “These are for you. I—” He cleared his throat. “Give me a moment, I seem to—I am at a loss for words.”
Oh goodness, this confessing business wasn’t meant to be this difficult!

A/N: In light of seeing @dorkmcgee‘s amazingly sweet art, I brought up the idea of making a collaborative series of FFXV confessions of sorts! They will provide the phenomenal art (and honestly do all the hard yards) and I’ll supply a little confessional drabble.
