If you zoom in on my art, you can see that my lines are not clean at all. For long I have tried to do clean lines, like some artists I admire, and to have my art look more… professional. But instead it made my art look lifeless. I know a lot of people who can do clean lines and the art is still very much alive, but to me, the sketchy lines work better. My point it, we have to find what works best for ourselves and try to perfectionate it. I’m still working on it myself, but here’s what I do !
The brush I use is called… “brush” (how original). Pen is too harsh for me, brush is softer~ I’ll usually pick a dark brown, dark blue or dark purple color to line.
Now since I am not very good at explaining, I recorded a video to show you how I draw the lines :
There’s nothing too special to say, except I don’t go for straight lines. I do a lot of little strokes. Instead of looking for the perfect line in one take, I’ll try to keep drawing those little strokes until it looks good. I try to keep it a bit clean on the skin, but for the hair, eyebrows, eyes, etc, I let my lines be sketchy. (I do believe hair should always be drawn from the roots to the tips, like you’re brushing it owo)
I guess my method is far from being the best one, especially if you want your drawings to look clean, but that’s what I do ! (I try clean lines sometimes too, cause… yeah I like to try a lot of things in art. Styles, techniques, etc)
My brushes for coloring are here ! And then it’s pretty much just painting. If it helps I could also do a video about that someday.
