In English, or in Japanese? Because translations (official or unofficial) of SE announcement are notoriously bad. Do you have a link to a source? I googled but couldn’t find anything besides fandom discourse on Reddit.

and just… dude I’m sorry but I’m going with Square’s word. And they made that alternative ending to appease fans that said the game was too sad. It just has no bearing on canon and honestly it couldn’t. Episode Prompto never would have happened. Ardyn would have just come back to bring eternal darkness if Noctis didn’t give his life. It doesn’t fit.

I am so tired.. it is very late for me. I’m happy to find the link later but god oh god it’s so late and I’m whooped. But just… it’s alternative. Square throwing fans a bone. But NOT canon. That doesn’t mean we can’t roll with it but it’s NOT CANON.
