If someone tells you they ship oc x canon or self insert, leave them alone. That’s it. You don’t need to tell them you only allow the canon character with another canon character. People put so much of themselves into self insert/oc works, they have to create all the content that is their ship rather than open their browser and see it every day, and then get people who will condescendingly tell them “sorry sweaty but your ship isn’t real c:”.

Protip: None of them are real.

Simply put, just let people have their scraps, stop taking away from what little they get to have because an entire fandom on board with your popular stuff somehow isn’t enough.

Tips on what not to do:

♥Tell a Self-Insert/OC x Canon shipper that the character belongs to someone else.

♥Reblog Self-Insert/OC x Canon shipper’s work and comment on how the character looks like a Canon one because of vague similar traits.

♥Reblog Self-Insert/OC work and say “Wish this was ____ tho” with blank being a canon character from your ship.

♥Talk constantly to a Self-Insert/OC shipper about your Canon/Canon ships but then tell them you don’t wanna hear it if they talk about theirs. (Like pick one, either share your ship talk with them or just say you don’t wanna talk ships – don’t take but not give)
