Okay, no, earlier I made a post about Zelos and now I just want to expand on it because I’m getting frustrated

schazam:

I understand that some people dislike him because he does come off as a douche, especially when he first appears. However, as tales games have showed us before, his base personality hardly scratches the surface of his character.

This is a man who was raised in a world that only wanted to use him. For Status, for power, for money, but no one really wanted him, not ever just him. His own mother despised him, blamed him for her lost chance at happiness, and with her dying breath she told him it would’ve been better if he hadn’t been born. This traumatized him so completely that even years later, when it snows in Meltokio, he has to LEAVE THE CITY.

So, of course, the traumatized little boy begins to make a mask for himself. one that exudes confidence and a lack of vulnerabilities. He’s a womanizer, because well, what better way of avoiding being hurt than acting like a jack ass? Especially since, if the other worlds chosen fulfills her purpose, he’s going to have to go on a mission to die.

Playing through the game shows you he’s far more than just a womanizer, way, way more. He thinks he’s useless, thinks he’s worth nothing. When he betrays you, he plans on dying, that’s why, if you chose Kratos and don’t tell Zelos you trust him, he dies. Because he doesn’t think there’s any point in sticking around in a world that hates him. And that’s terrible because Zelos is an incredibly observant, smart, and caring human being.

He knew sheena wouldn’t be able to kill the Chosen because he knows her, because unlike everyone else, he pays attention. He’s the reason why Sheena was even able to move on, if you consider the betrayal she faced at the gate, and the loss of Corrine. And in Dawn of the New world, he’s the ONLY ONE who refuses to believe that Lloyd could kill innocents, literally the only one. He stands by his friends and would give up everything for his friends, because he fought for them and thanks to them he has a reason to be alive. He grows so much from the prick that you meet in the beginning to the man he is by the end, the results show even more in the sequel.

I have no idea where else I was going to go with this rant I’m just very emotional and getting pumped about the rerelease and just—
